Re: 1979 Starcraft 18 SS Here we go again!!

Good to hear you're coming along, this warmer weather has been great. My lake had 27" of ice on it a couple weeks ago, but I bet not so much now.

Thanks Lake, looking forward to getting this one wet to compare the o/b version to the i/b

Geterdone man!! All open water here. Good work on the wiring. That's something I'm not looking forward to. Maybe it's easier to start from scratch, hope so.
Nice to see your back to making some progress.

Thanks Mike, That is what I did on this one and the 87 was strip out all the old wiring and started fresh, looks a lot better and is easier to fiqure out. I just made a couple stupid mistakes, that were easy to fix.

Exciting Glen! 2 splashes in one year --- and it is only March! Will there be a 3rd???? Sounds like you are real close now.... Glad to hear about your warm weather --- means it should be here in a day or so (although I must admit it is super nice today!)

IM

IM, there will probably be three, ole blue the 81SS just needs the leg put back on and finish the tune up, but I haven't had time to post any thing much on her yet.

Got all the little things finnished off, and decided to catch the spring boat buying frenzy on Kijiji. Placed an ad and got a call half an hour later, one week later and a couple more phone calls and this SS is

Thaks EZ and Jason, Jason I have two left the 72 SS and a 1981 16 SS that we are going to do a little bit of work to and sell. The next one to get a make over is going to be my 72. This one will get the best fo everything I have learned form the previous ones.

Not yet Jason, I won't do anything on the 72 till after summer. I'm really hoping to get a bunch of time at the lake this year.

Glen,

The 72 should look spectacular based on the knowledge and skills gained from the last two!! Lookin' forward to the fall build. Enjoy the spring/summer on the water!

Went on another road trip yesterday to deliver the boat. Met the new owner of the 18 about 3 hours north of me. He is a real nice guy and real excited about getting her out on the water in Northern Sask. I never did get a chance to splash her so I'm hoping to get a good report back.

Awesome restoration, Glen!! Congrats on the sale....very beautiful looking vessel. Long winters out there, compared to here (westcoast BC), but we get our share of wet & windy weather. But I love the winters, they are a great time to get caught up on projects that are put on the back burner when the weather too nice to be inside.

So I just reviewed your entire thread, and yes my project resembles yours very much. Since you also have a boat with a similar I/o I may be consulting you some on that. Mines going to need a valve job at the very least.

Your making great progress, so I'll be watching every step. Great to have somebody whose been there and done it right.

Hey Sprinst, are you ready to splash? Ive been out once in the 72'had a little run in with a sand bar, nothing hurt except my pride, but were sitting with 6"'s of fresh snow this morning. We would have to fiqure out where to go as it is quite a hike to Edmonton from here?

Re: 1979 Starcraft 18 SS Here we go again!!

I'm looking at doing a test run next after some double checking of guage connections, hooking up fish finder, etc.

After that I can head east. Where are you located.

South west of Swift Current, in a ghost town. So splash day for you is next week! Looking forward to the photos.

I was guessing you were a bit further north. Just the way the roads lead the closest for both would be somewhere near Calgary. Lake Minnewanka in Banff would be cool but might do more hanging around in Banff than boating.
