5:45, woke up to the birds chirping. Slept like a log and felt great. Coffee, and by 6am back on the boat! Love feeling like an animal. By 8am i had done…
Bimini on
Seats in
Cleats tightened
Rear trailer straps on
Boat loaded for lake
Fishing pole holders in
Just have to do decals and a quick cleanup. Garage is trashed but largely empty of boat parts which is nice! Lake here we come!!
That was my post this morning that I didnt load lol. Got the boat to the lake, everything handled well as far as the trailer went and we drove slow. Found out my trailer tires are 20 years old and hardly used. Being replaced regardless now. Before i get to the “splash”…
@SHSU thanks!
1- bunks run to the front of the fuel tank and 6” into where it sits, but not all the way to the back of it. Seems pretty well supported though since i have 36’ of 2x6” bunks.
2- you are correct, windshield latches were not present in the pic. That because i have been using a screw through a piece of cardboard as my latch lol. I need to find replacements bad…
Boat was “splashed” today! For about 5 minutes…. Good news - barely a drop of water came through as she sat by the dock. The rest of the news…
Carbs have a flat spot when starting and although she fired up great at home, under water pressure and 1000’ higher in elevation, she really, really struggled to fire. Im sure they are in need of a full rebuild which is now top of the list and i have the kit already. The previous rusty gas tank, no filter, and lack of care from PO’s have taken their toll. Time to focus on the motor… speaking of which…
Lower prop shaft seal decided to go at the lake today too. As we struggled to get her started, little bubbles of fluid started coming out of the prop exhaust. I was lucky to have my FIL’s friend at the dock and he taught me some stuff about these old motors. Thats how I learned about the flat spot with the carbs.
So motor finally turned over but wasnt running great. Lower sounded off too if i went past 5-10 mph. We did a circle off the dock then brought her back, loaded her up, and called it a day. Still fun with kayaks and around 20 people for my FIL’s 50th bday. Guys in other boats were limiting on trout though and I really want to take my son fishing…
Bittersweet soft splash that im not going to count so no lake pics. Back to the drydock and onto the motor work. Need to start a motor(s) thread and will probably do that tomorrow. Have some decisions to make. Plenty left to do on the boat too beyond the motor work.
Bench seat, bow seats, more electrical work, window frames, trailer tires bearings and wheel well covers, tach, volt meter, fuel gauge, paint touchups, and more!
