I'm going out to lay some more deck tonight but have a question. My boards have two coats of epoxy on the bottoms and edges. The top sides have nothing yet. I am going to do the tops after it is all down.

Question: My boat is going to be carpeted. Will two coats of epoxy on top be good enough, or should I cover the entire deck with cloth also? Just wondering if it would be way better, or just more work. Thanks.

Seems like whenever I'm laying down epoxy I feel ok after two coats, warm and fuzzy after after three (or more). Course, with your carpet glue that would pretty much count as a third, eh.

I put one coat of epoxy on my tops before installation then another after installation. I added a strip of cheap Home Depot cloth over the seams. NB was trying to talk me into doing cloth on the whole thing. I'm sure it would be bulletproof but I just couldn't see soaking up that much more friggin' expensive epoxy to protect $60 worth of playwood.

Between last night and tonight I have the front half of the deck riveted in, foam up in the "V", support floor for the fuel tank riveted in, fuel sender in the tank and the tank is ready to go in.

This is what I wanted to post last week:

Today pressure tested the tank to make sure the sender and fitting weren't leaking.

Now I'm going to see if I can get that tank installed.

A few odds and ends then the next section of deck can go in. It's going to be perfect weather this week for pouring foam. They're saying mid 90's most of the week.

It's been way too stinkin' hot to get much done on the boat, but I almost have my 9.9 kicker converted to a shortshaft. Installed a new waterpump last night and just have to re-install the lower unit. Good thing because I got a deal on craigslist tonight.

I know it's not aluminum, but it isn't fiberglass either and now I have a boat that can go camping with us, just toss it in the camper. It should scoot right along with the 9.9 on it.

Thought I'd share a few pics I took of a couple other boats that have the same exact hull as mine. These are both custom jobs that I believe started out as SuperSports.

The first on I saw in Ludington about 4 weeks ago. I talked to the guy who said his grandpa converted it from a SuperSport to a Center Console and, get this, went from an outboard to an OMC I/O.:facepalm: I should have gotten better pics.

The next one I saw driving home from work yesterday. I would have followed him, but we had friends over for dinner so I had to get right home. You fishing guys would love this one, check it out, that OB is HUGE, and the bottom was also bare aluminum.

More progress tonight and I even had some help.

I know, the horror, the pour in foam, what am I thnking....It's packed full, I don't ever have wonder if I got enough foam in it. I actually ran out, what you see in the first pic is a whole 80lb kit of 2lb from US Composites. I had to order more for the last 4 feet of deck.

All the deck pieces are down, just have to rivet in the last one.
