Good looking shelf that I am sure was fun to make for them.
As for the Bimini top, wherever it works for you is the spot to put it. We looked at a Bimini top, but since we mostly fish (someone in front and back) decided it wasn't worth it.
SHSU
We usually have the kids up front but putting it there when folded keeps it out of the way of both. Her kids are 8 and 13 so especially for the 8 year old we need ways to give her a break from the sun.
And there was the time we had motor trouble and it was a 12 hours electric motor ride back to the ramp in blistering 100 degree. Heat I would have killed for that thing to get some breaks from the sun. I actually bought it the next day.
Mostly it's used for the kids though or when we go out on the boat for a relaxing lunch or dinner. It does get those occasional pleasure cruises just to be on the water and last year it was nice for those. I had it about 2 feet further back though and it was on the perfect spot to get in the way. So I want to make sure I choose better placement this year.
I figured someone might look at it from a different perspective and say hey did you think about this.
But I also agree where it works is the best place for it. And it's probably going to end up right where it is unless someone sees something I don't.
They absolutely enjoyed making it and did better than I thought. I figured it's behind the doors so even if it looked horrible who cares as long as it works. But they fit the very little criteria we set and I think they did quite a nice job. The first aid kit fits in the bottom shelf perfect. And on the top I'll use Rubbermaid containers for the spare keys and lanyard and fuses and back up horn and spare bildge blah blah blah.
His dad is a peice of **** that is an absolute ass to him helping with the project has been giving him confidence and something to be proud of. He now has a goal of learning to drive it on the trailer this year. He's a good kid he just needs someone to teach him things and show him he can do them and be proud
