1978 Johnson 150 hp tach wire

That plugs in to the spot we are talking about and those go back to the motor. Should be blue, green and red

they are purple, grey, and black. was plugged into the other control. So grey is tach, black is ground, and purple is 12volt?

Blue , green and red are not the colors for the tachometer.----The grey , black and purple are the colors for a tachometer.
