1978 Chrysler floor help?

Hey guys, quick update. I cored a few holes in the floor to see where the bad stuff was. Honestly it’s better than I thot, I cut a small section of the bad floor out. The foam is roughly 5” thick and the bottom 1/4” or so was wet. I removed it anyway.
So my next question is….. can I remove the whole floor, leaving 3-4” of lip around the edges, with the cap on without the boat losing shape? I’ve read a lot of builds and a lot of guys do it right on the trailer. Some have mentioned build a crib but I don’t have the time or materials.
Appreciate the help. Thanks!

Here’s where I’m at.
Also they used 3/8” plywood to build the floor. I was surprised by this!

Alright, so I went ahead and removed the floor. So far so good! Need to remove some more foam, but now I need some info on what materials to use installing new floor.
1/2” or 3/4” marine plywood? Epoxy or poly resin? What do I use to fibreglass the floor up the walls? ( like to go up the walls like 8”-10”) Do I mat the whole floor?

no problem. make sure to watch every video in Frisco's thread
There is a lot of great info to be had in the stickies. Frisco is awesome too.
Scott has provided some great links. Dig and research as much as possible and you will get the feel of how to proceed and ask questions.
I guess what I'm saying is it is much easier to answer questions because you took the effort to dig into the process on your own. You will overcome the basics and move on quickly with the Iboats forum guys.
Just need to lose the Banana head....LOL!

Well you can certainly see from the initial set of pictures why Chrysler no longer makes boats . . .

You can re-build it better than it ever was . . . You might be trading the banana suit for the tyvek 'hazmat' suit when you get to the grinding phase of the restoration.

if itching for 3 weeks is fun..... make sure you have a proper respirator. fiberglass grinding dust will kill you otherwise.

Yikes. Ok, I’m not there yet. I’m halfway thru Frisco’s build, which is nuts by the way!!!, so I’m not sure what I’ll be grinding yet. I only have floor removed and foam out.

Will do! Thanks.
I think if I bought a boat like his and found that much work, it would be extremely overwhelming. My “simple” floor repair is enough for me. I like the learning but the big picture is staggering.
