Hey SHSU,

Pretty much. Once the boat is done I will throw a cover on it and drag it out of the garage on the cradled. Then I will put the trailer in the garage and start the tear down on that. When I get the trailer done, I should be able to push it up to the cradle and then winch the boat directly onto the trailer. After that will be to put the motor on the back once it is done. Hoping for the third week in Augus.

Looking good! (y)

And more room for fish is a great idea!
Thanks BWR, really looking forward to just getting this done. I will admit that I am getting excited to get her back in the water!

I see your like me when I did my first boat, you want things perfect and are tough on yourself for imperfections. It took me to the third one before that was out of my system and I accepted the fact that I'm only human and working at home in my garage.
I think you've done some really fine work on your SS. (y)

Hey Watermann,

That is likely true, and I probably suffer from OCD as well. There won't be a third or second rebuild for me, this is it. Another reason why I have been so picky about things, I want this one to last.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hello Gents!

Some more progress, but sadly came to a grinding halt today. Today I was supposed to carpet the siding for the livewell, and rivet it in place so I could fit and cut the top for the livewell. The carpeting went great, the fit of the sidings is near perfect. Unfortunately my rivets were not long enough. I only found that out after I tried driving one of the rivets home, and the siding pulled away (grrrrr). Now I have to drill that rivet out of the wood, and go get more rivets a 1/2" longer so I can get the sidings up....

Here are some shots of the livewell installation, and some of the other projects I got done over the last week or so.

Cheers

In order to install the livewell in the boat, I had to construct it in the boat in order to anchor it properly to the deck. I finished the upper framing that was nearest to the sides of the boat. I left the last two sections of upper frame off so I could install the tank, plumbing and insulation.

IMG_0199.JPG

There are 24 rivets holding the supporting framework to the deck. It is really sturdy. The tank itself simply sits inside of the ridge insulation framed by the aluminum and wood siding.

More of the same.

IMG_0201.JPG

Next in was the insulation.

IMG_0204.JPG

Once the tank was inserted and the insulation was put in place, I riveted on the two pieces of the supporting framework to hold it all together (the top runners). Before I did this I had to do the wiring for the aerator pump, and the LED tank light. That included making sure the plumbing was good to.

IMG_0210.JPG

This is where I got to today and had to stop. The two pieces line up perfectly.

More of the same.

In an earlier post I mentioned that I had put 5200 around the splashwell. My plan was to paint it the next day while the 5200 was still tacky. This and the following are the results. It took two coats of paint, and I am quite happy with the end results.

IMG_0197.JPG

Starboard side is looking pretty good too. I doubled checked after painting, and looks like a solid seal all the way around, happy about that.

IMG_0207.JPG

I finally have the front speakers fully installed. The system sounds great for such a small head unit. I think its 40 watts per channel.

IMG_0208.JPG

And the starboard side.

Right, so tomorrow during lunch I am going to get those rivets. The plan is to gets the sidings installed tomorrow, and then the get the top sized and cut. After that I will fit the hatches, and start waterproofing the top.

My hope is to have the boat out of the garage by next weekend, and then to get started on the trailer and the motor. I had chocolate milk in my lower end the last time I changed the oil. As such I am pulling the lower end and taking to a guy to get the seals changes. While that is happening I will prep the motor for paint in addition to the trailer.

Ambitious? Yes, but I got to get this boat in the water this year....

Hey Gents,

A little more progress today. I got the top cut for the livewell, and fit the hatches to it. Quite happy with the end result, although cut was off by about one eight of an inch. Not too noticeable, but I can see it.

Some Pic:

The sidings are all riveted in now. As it turns out the rivets were fine, it was an operator issue. Really happy with the fit of the top, and the hatches lined up perfectly!

I forgot to include a picture of the plumbing for the livewell. This side of the tank is made for dumping in ice to cool the water as it circulated.

Will it be made up once you cover it with carpet?

Hey SHSU,

I am currently waterproofing the top with West System, two more coats to go. I will be using vinyl for the top of the LW. Once I screw the hatches in place, I will be ready to rivet the top down. that will be about it, onto the trailer and the motor.

Hey Gents,

Its been a while, but I have been busy. I will have a few posts over the next week or so.

Interestingly enough, tomorrow marks the 4th anniversary of joining I-Boats. Time has sailed by quickly!

Some updates on the livewell and splashwell, both are done. Some pics:

214.JPG

The door is in place and it fits good, no issues.

215.JPG

Proof that it opens all the way without getting stuck on the deck.

216.JPG

Livewell is good to go. Its riveted in, and nice and tight.

217.JPG

A quick look on the inside.

218.JPG

More of the same.

This is just a quick update post. I have a few more coming, as well as some questions.

Hello Everyone,

This is a happy fourth anniversary for me on Iboats! 🎂

Well the boat is pretty much done less a couple of minor things I have to do. One of which is to get the fish finder installed, however that will not stop me from launching the boat this summer, or early Fall.

Some pics of the pretty much finished subject, no commentary just pictures:

As of the now the boat is covered up sitting in the driveway while I work on the trailer and motor. Lots already done on those more pics to follow on the progress. I am still hopeful that I can have the boat in the water by the third or last week of August. That of course depends on the guy doing the lower end of my motor.
