Hello Gents!
Some more progress, but sadly came to a grinding halt today. Today I was supposed to carpet the siding for the livewell, and rivet it in place so I could fit and cut the top for the livewell. The carpeting went great, the fit of the sidings is near perfect. Unfortunately my rivets were not long enough. I only found that out after I tried driving one of the rivets home, and the siding pulled away (grrrrr). Now I have to drill that rivet out of the wood, and go get more rivets a 1/2" longer so I can get the sidings up....
Here are some shots of the livewell installation, and some of the other projects I got done over the last week or so.
Cheers
In order to install the livewell in the boat, I had to construct it in the boat in order to anchor it properly to the deck. I finished the upper framing that was nearest to the sides of the boat. I left the last two sections of upper frame off so I could install the tank, plumbing and insulation.
There are 24 rivets holding the supporting framework to the deck. It is really sturdy. The tank itself simply sits inside of the ridge insulation framed by the aluminum and wood siding.
More of the same.
Next in was the insulation.
Once the tank was inserted and the insulation was put in place, I riveted on the two pieces of the supporting framework to hold it all together (the top runners). Before I did this I had to do the wiring for the aerator pump, and the LED tank light. That included making sure the plumbing was good to.
This is where I got to today and had to stop. The two pieces line up perfectly.
More of the same.
In an earlier post I mentioned that I had put 5200 around the splashwell. My plan was to paint it the next day while the 5200 was still tacky. This and the following are the results. It took two coats of paint, and I am quite happy with the end results.
Starboard side is looking pretty good too. I doubled checked after painting, and looks like a solid seal all the way around, happy about that.
I finally have the front speakers fully installed. The system sounds great for such a small head unit. I think its 40 watts per channel.
And the starboard side.
Right, so tomorrow during lunch I am going to get those rivets. The plan is to gets the sidings installed tomorrow, and then the get the top sized and cut. After that I will fit the hatches, and start waterproofing the top.
My hope is to have the boat out of the garage by next weekend, and then to get started on the trailer and the motor. I had chocolate milk in my lower end the last time I changed the oil. As such I am pulling the lower end and taking to a guy to get the seals changes. While that is happening I will prep the motor for paint in addition to the trailer.
Ambitious? Yes, but I got to get this boat in the water this year....
