The transom isn't any different based on the OB you hang on it: 2X 3/4" ply lamed, sealed, & re-installed

All the controls & etc are all tied to the motor you buy, used or new. Throttle & steering.

Any OB 50-90hp would serve you well depending on how & where you boat, SC's plane pretty easy.

4strokes will be heavier then a 2stroke. Any 'newer', post 1985 (+/-) OB will be hp rated at the prop. Earlier OB's will likely be crank rated, so 10% +/- hp is lost in the transfer down to the prop.

How much do you want to spend?

$100 craigs motor & a few rebuild/maintenance parts VS $9K+. And anything in between...

A 326lb 90hp Etec 2stroke will have the Starmada drooling:

So will a 250lb 4stroke Yamaha 50hp:

A 380lb 4stroke 90hp Yamaha will as well:

Mercury, Honda & others make similar motors.........

Talking about motors - we got the Yamaha becuase it was the right price at the right time. When we bought it, we were also pricing out Suzuki four strokes. They are substantially lighter than the Yamaha.

GA_Boater,

"Newer motors use what's called the "Standard B.I.A. Bolt Hole Pattern". Not sure when it became a standard."

Is there a template for this somewhere I can use? It will give me a good idea as to whether the existing hole pattern is the same, or if I will need to patch and re-drill.
