Motor ran well but have a issue with lower drive. Didn't leave me stranded but would slip at 2200 rpm. As long I stayed around 2k seemed good

That's my 5 year build. Still need to finish some trim and redo covers on cushions. But now I have to figure out why it slips at 2200 rpm first

So have had it out 5 times all with issue.
Old prop....slip?
Buy new prop... slip?
Find fwd switch overtraveling causing what I thought was a bad prop.
Next test... loose fuel pump.
Buy new pump and test.
then Peters out after 15 min run time .... replace coil and ballast resistor.....
Test again and same behavior.
Wish I would have had timing light with me to test on the water. Dam thing runs forever at the house
Thru all that only had one tow.
Had my boy with me today and we milked it back to 100 yards from the dock and wind gently blew us to the right shore and we walked it to the dock. He had a blast doing that! ADVENTURE!
Grrrr..... I will get it running though.

Omc pin drive. Bonded rubber hub. I think that issue is solved. Now if I can keep it running reliably for more than 15 min

Got out to do some troubleshooting today and stumbled across a possible reason for the running issue. Grabbed all my tools, threw into the boat and flipped battery disconnect. Started hooking things up and touched ballast resistor and it was warm. Touched coil and it was hot. Ignition was off. Started checking voltage and had 12v on coil. After digging I found that the starter solenoid was putting out power on the 12v out post for the coil. I could pull it up and it would go off and push on it and the slight angle change it would come back on. When it was putting 14v while running the coil was overheating and shutting down. I will get a new solenoid and see what happens. Hope I didn't cook a brand new coil

New starter solenoid and new coil/ballast resistor. Took it out Sunday and even though I didn't run it hard for any real time it didn't fail. Trip was cut short due to thunderstorms and can't go out this weekend because they expect the possibility of 4+" of rain

So went out Sunday, took all my diagnostic stuff with me just incase. Well.... got towed back in. I was able to determine gas was not getting to float bowl. Tore the whole fueling system apart to find nothing. Checked vent, no screen in pickup tube in tank, anti siphon (operates at 1 psi), New Sierra fuel pump ( 4 psi output on bench) new Sierra water separator/fuel filter. Screen in carb clean. Tank is clean from refurb. Didn't find anything so I yanked timing cover to check fuel pump eccentric (was good) did find a sloppy timing chain that will get changed. I have another fuel pump coming. So here is the question...... my canister fuel filter was before the pump. Could that be the issue? I am moving it to after the pump to find out and will replace filter even though it has only about 10 gal thru it.

Well Mr. Frog at least you are on the water. I just happily exposed my 6 recirc fuel check valves are/were clogged. Getting there.

And here is the bad.
Ran good for a bit then same thing with the fuel. Last week I moved fuel filter to after the BRAND NEW pump to test and put a pressure Guage at the filter on the downstream side. Once it started to act up I had 0 psi. Then I bypassed filter and got pressure back for about 5 min then happened again. Got back to the dock with a electric fuel pump/regulator contraption I made. I am at a loss. I went thru the whole fuel system from the anti siphon to the carb including taking off the timing chain cover to look at the eccentric. The pump is about 2' away from the anti siphon and the filter is right next to pump. The Guage is on the filter. I can't see it being vaporlock because other than the pump being bolted to the block none of the stuff before the pressure Guage is neat the heat....

Fuel pickup tube---
I tried to remove it when I had tank out and felt like it was going to break so I looked at it thru the sender hole and knocked out the screen.
Fuel pump---- both new ones were sierra
On the bench they both pump the same, new used vs new unused. They will pump about 5.5 pounds before they Peter out.
After I take the co-capitain to the dentist I am going to remove my electric emergency pump and put everything back to the way it was yesterday and if it runs fine from cold I am going to assume it's heat related........
