That's a heck of a platform (and ladder). What's the height above waterline gonna be?
I wish I knew, I am tentatively copying roughly where the old one was mounted but open to adjusting a little if need be. I don't know where the new waterline will be considering her added weight of railings and accessories, I should probably get a waterline measurements from another 25 for a benchmark.

I am worried about my trusty kicker motor weight in addition to all this teak real estate too. It weighs 76lbs. Too heavy of a motor maybe? I do have main batteries up front, pulpit, anchor locker, etc. counter-balancing to some degree. Fuel tanks are mounted much lower but no farther forward than before.

now i kinda wish i woulda kept my chief :(
The chief was sweet, I loved my 18. If you ever got another one though, I'd say to consider the 22 for more comfortable camping and stuff like that. I think they're the most common size these days too but not sure..

Thanks, been scraping together every little bit trying to get nuts and bolts and gaskets for the past year but this thing is finally getting close! I might not have any money for gas to go anywhere after all this lol but I'll be happy just getting her in the water finally.

So, there have been a whole number of things that have happened and changed since the last post. Engine was in and running, was working on timing and carb tune, things were moving along. Unfortunately the oil pump driveshaft beneath the distributor that I was desperately trying to replace- is stuck. No magnet strong enough to pull it. The manifolds were also showing signs of being partially clogged as the port side was running significantly hotter. I think it wasn't getting much water through it. I know, garden hose supply isn't great to begin with. Never even pulled all the hoses to clean the passages so this has all been pretty rushed, despite seeming to take forever..
Ultimately, it was decided the season is already basically over, and this engine should just be pulled to more thoroughly prepare it for the coming season. Especially since I plan on taking this boat farther than anyone else ever probably has or would. So it was a solemn weekend of tough decisions and pulling the engine back out to put it on a stand for partial disassembly and additional reconditioning.

Luckily- the admiral is very supportive of this project and believes in it like I do! So we plan to stay the course, redouble our efforts, and ensure this dream comes true. We will be investing in even more rebuild parts over the winter to be sure we don't miss any more seasons.

The internal corrosion of my 302 small block and the whole raw water cooling system in general is now highest on the list for improvement.
