Then punch, drill, epoxy in holes, 4200 on bolts n holes, and I actually mounted it with no help and no strain as holes were perfect.

Drilling for motor bolt holes is really just math :whistle: and then re checking, and good knowledge gleaned from the interweb
Why not just lift the motor, rest it in place on the transom (but still supported with engine lift), and use the mounting plate as the guide?

Certainly a good idea Mike, but a guy still has to find the true center of the transom, there to do as you said from there is probably easier than measuring from center and using a punch.
