It is with a heavy heart, that due to life getting in the way, it does not look good for me to finish and splash anytime soon if at all. Long story short, the C word landed in me, shortly after my last post, which put me on the sidelines for quite some time. I am on the mend, and today cancer free, but it was a long-drawn-out battle. No sympathy please, as I feel very fortunate, to be one of the lucky ones, and God is good. That being said, the admiral and I have decided it's time to move on, enjoy the grandchildren and maybe do some traveling. I do have some repercussions from the chemo and radiation treatments, and to quote the great Toby Keith "I'm not as good as I once was."
That being said, the project is for sale. I don't expect to get what I have into it (we all know, these boat projects don't pencil out very well), but I would love to see somebody complete what I started and splash it someday.

I understand about health and life problems. It's really tough and sometimes we have to make hard decisions in order to move on. You're doing what you need to do.

all righty then, change of plans it looks like. the admiral and I are going to trudge on this summer and try to get this project closer to finished. next up is to finish the side panels, install consoles, and on to the bow area. stay tuned, as with the admirals help, we may just get this back progressing!

Need help with windshield install. Anybody able to enlighten me a bit on windshield install ( pics would be great) I Have got a bit done and am back at it.
Side panels , side vinyl, rod holders and cleats
Console kinda but need to get windshield install to make sure all lines up.

Looks like a bracket gets riveted to console and winshield slides into the bracket groove? If so, any help as to how to get windshield attached to the bracket on bottom

Got the windshield figured out, those 2 pieces don’t attach except for using the same 3 holes on front of console when windshield goes on. I made my own T bolts by grinding heads Cut aluminum down on pan head screws
Still have some minor adjustments before attaching consoles to floor
Progress! And that windshield makes it look like I’m getting somewhere on it.

What adhesive you all like on carpet to epoxied wood?

I tried a water based exterior adhesive and hated it. Took too long to set up. I switched over to Contact Cement and that worked really well. Holding up great.
I applied over polyester gel coat, but I doubt that matters. Should work over epoxy just as well.

I like contact cement as well, but still mechanically secure the edges with stainless staples.

Yes northwestern mn ( getting 6-8 inches white stuff) I have used Henry’s 663 in past but no idea how it will hold up. Ill look into the dap weld wood contact cement
i do know that the Henry’s 663 works very well (strong) on carpet to aluminum)

An observations and a question
reading and learning from others on here, I realize these StarCraft 18 ft sports are awfully light in the shell form. After hanging an outboard, batteries, and a couple people towards the back, the bow area gets plenty light compared to total weights. To offset this a bit, I am going to use heavier marine plywoood in bow than in stern area ( 3/4 ply upfront and aluminum frame with 1/2 inch ply in back. Plus it takes more wood in bow than stern.
question - is spar varnish sufficient for plywood bow area ( I have used and now need to order) Wellcraft 2 part epoxy in the past but its more expensive by quite a bit than spar varnish.

I've always used Helmsman Spar on all my deck boards and just the epoxy on the transoms. They've all been covered with Nautolex as well, and screws and through bolts sealed with 3M5200, so there's the added protection there. I have used epoxy on any wood I have painted as it provides for a nice smooth surface, otherwise I feel the spar is completely sufficient for any decking. Keep the boat covered from the elements and the spar sealed wood should last much longer than the original unsealed decking.

Helmsman Spar urethane is what I've used for my decking. You could also use the Old Timers formula.

I’ve been working on the front of consoles
2coats of Clarkcraft 2 part epoxy (4 on edges)
And I will carpet both sides with Henry’s 663 and stainless staples

I believe when I run out of the clarkcraft 2 part epoxy I will switch to the helmsman spar.
( I will have a bit of the bow and the stern area left of wood work.
