Put together a pressure washer sandblasting rig, ideas off youtube.. got a pot blaster from harbor freight,,, set to 40 psi,, used some screened playsand, used respirator while sifting. 3.5 0 degree nozzle 2.7 gal min 2800 psi,, did well, no clogging, and it stripped the small 12 footer inside and out with 4 bags of sand..

Finishing up the new trailer for the Islander,, now that Ive got the hang of pressure blasting and painting,, i can get to work! Thinking of ditching the inboard,, needs the head milled a shop in Raymond can do it with the head still assembled..get that running and then sell it to finance more of the boat materials...

Now you're cooking with the pics, :thumb: Awesome to have that unsavory pile of work behind you on the trailer. Looks to me like a 3500 Lb axle, should do just fine.

Looking really good. I was debating doing the same thing with a pot when I redid my trailer but didn't have the space to setup and do the blasting. If i am ever able to get some land to work on, will defiantly get my own pot.

I picked up a 3.0L merc 140 for $100 on craigslist last year. We're planning on taking it in to get decked and honed for a complete rebuild.

There really are a decent number of cheap engines out there that people would almost be willing to pay you to take if you have an engine hoist to get it out!

It seems a little daunting at first, but there is a tremendous amount of information on the site related to rebuilding a merc 120/140. Once completely rebuilt, you'll have the peace of mind knowing it should last you many many years with proper maintenance! :)

Just an option! but we really like the i/o
