Re: Starcraft project: "STOLEN" PIC UPDATE 7-21-09

Well guys, its officially crunch time. t minus 24 hours.

last night all i really got done was the bilge pump wired up, but not plumbed. seems when i redrilled the hole through the transom i used i size too small bit and the hose wont go through. no biggie.

i also got the splashwell draintubes in, as i was doing the second one my tube of 5200 EXPLODED in my hand... leaving a gooey mess that i still have not gotten off... so i picked up another tube last night and just have to lay some on the inside of the transom around the tubes.

i also picked up some stuff i needed like ropes, paddle, battery box, 5200 (actually its the atwood brand marine sealant), plugs, etc.

heres my punchlist:

registration (going in about 30 min to do that)

hose for bilge pump plumbed

seal inside of splashwell drain tubes

cleats

battery box

gas her up and go!!!

im as ready as i'll ever be. 10am tomorrow we hit the launch.

its wierd, i feel like i have been working on this boat for years... but really its been 6 weeks!!! remember this?? http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2158648#post2158648

Shes registered!!! and looks like someone fibbed... the dmv says its 15'... even though the LOA measured by me was 15'11", so unless they round down almost a foot...

but in ny anything over 16' is more expensive to register...

the only other stuff i plan on doing this year is bracing under the bow and something for the dash tray.

oh and in the pic you see the wires for the fish finder, i hooked it up after i snapped that pic.

I still have some stuff to do over time before next summer:

polish all the aluminum

paint and finish inside the bow

doors or bench seat @ the splashwell

trailer

paint motor (or get bigger one and paint it)

video to come as soon as it uploads...

DAMN IM A HAPPY MAN!!!!!

we hit 25 mph with me (230) my brother in law (215) and my son (50) with 6 gal of fuel.

i think if i go to a 17 pitch prop i can hit 30.

every thing went great!!! the only minor issue was that the motor kind of runs rough at low low speed... other than that it was great! she handled great even though it was a little choppy.

video to come...

Andy my Merc is on the third notch and it is original to the boat so that may help :D. Seems to me your motor came off a glass boat and the transom may not have been as steep as it is on our Jupiters :D.

Rick

i moved it out to the 3rd notch, hit a steady 25mph (before was steady 23, hitting 24/25 every so often) with my wife and 3 kids... test run earlier was 2 adults 1 kid...

Looks great and clearly runs pretty darn well also. You should be very pleased.

:D

heres a few more pics from todays outing with the family...

Hey the god news is the boat is water ready and you did such a quick project that you do have the rest of the season to enjoy her.:)

Did she say anything about spending nickels on the rig?:p

spoke too soon...

Have you checked to be sure that the throttle is opening up all the way?

yes it is

Check the carb not just the cable or leaver on the carb.

I am not sure if that is a two or three circuit carb.

i dont know

It may have a partially blocked main jet or a sticky needle and seat.

It could have the float height set low not allowing enough fuel into the carb bowl.

Does your ignition advance as the throttle advances? If it does, that can cause all kids of crazy running. That's about all I can come up with unless I had my hands on it.

thats all jibberish to me!

Re: Starcraft project: "STOLEN" PIC UPDATE 7-31-09 COMPLETED!!

well, back in business. the high speed jet was totally clogged.

just got back from the lake and shes purring like a kitten. had a good evening at the launch...

i went solo, and friday when i tried to launch solo it was horrible. so i went planning on asking someone to help me. when i got there i saw a boat tied up just cranking away, and the cranking slowly got slower. i walked over and offered cables if they would help me get my boat in the water. the guy actually pulled his truck up to the water and spun the boat backwards... something i wouldnt have done only because the prop was only inches from the concrete. but he insisted, and we hooked up the cables and she fired up.

got mine in the water, started it and prayed for a good showing. pulled away from the dock, hit the throttle and i was off! \

when i came in i loaded up and parked, and sat and watched all the boats come in. i could tell stories all day. mt favorite was the rednecks pulling out an 18 or 19' fourwinns with a 2wd s-10... spun the rear tire all the way up the ramp

so now she is off the trailer and i can pay some much needed attention to the trailer... including new bunks, keel rollers, 1 new shock and topping it all off with new safety chains (thanks to kevs "accident".
