Having some issues. When I finally get it started it idles rough. When I try to rev up the engine there 5-6 second delay when it goes from the rough idle to a higher RPM and then it eventually stalls out. I recently replaced the fuel pump. Any suggestions? The condensors, points and spark plugs all look good.

I'm thinking dirty carb and/or bad coil that only fires periodically. If the coils are original, then at least one as the original OMC coils had a 100% failure rate in time. Thankfully the new replacement coils are bullet proof and only about $20 each. You can get a carb rebuild kit right here at iboats as well as all your ignition components. You only need three things to get these big girls running again; compression, fuel and spark. Verify each of these before moving on to the next. These links may help too.

Thanks for the help. I ordered a carb kit. I pulled the flywheel and all the condensors, points and coils look very new. This motor was -given a tune up late last season, the boat has only been used five or six times since then. I am assuming its the carb, but I will check for spark anyway.
