25 is purring like a kitten today! Finally got a warm day for a bucket test and got the low speed mix dialed In. Ready for the river!

Well I sold the 25. Guy offered me $1000 cash for it. I wouldn’t say no. The main lake I fish is 9.9 hp restricted as is, so it wasn’t a huge loss. I’ve had the 6 hp motor out behind the boat 3 times the week, and it’s a phenomenal motor. Really dependable and fires right up on the first pull. It is slow though. Like painfully slow especially with 3 men in it.

I am on to my next project to find a 9.9/15 or a 15 for my boat. I think this will be optimal for all my needs. I plan to do a rebuild on it

That's the deal of a century. The guy must have been desperate. You made out like a bandit.

actually..... when you consider just the taxes on a new 25hp (15% in Canada)
a $3500 purchase - would carry almost $500 just in taxes.

that engine depending on it's shape and basic TLC will last another 15-20 years . if not more ...... a lot cheaper than renting one on the annual fishing trip. :)

no I would not have spent $1000 either but everything is relative . most of all my oldies were below $100 cdn...no taxes :) most have sold $150 after a refurbish. no money made but I don't play golf $$$$ nor smoke $$$$$$. Keeps me busy during the winter months and happy to see them run in the Spring

If it is in tip top shape $1000 is not that bad.----As stated taxes on a new one are very high.----And that 25 HP does not need $100 / hr shop support.-----The average person can learn how to maintain it without special tools.
