I just finished the second layer with an amber yellow, I was originally going to do this process a third time and go to a even lighter shade of yellow but I think I am happy with as it. Now I just need to do some light finish sanding and hit it with several coats of varnish.

That is some pretty work!!! Nothing like a good dye job with a proper finsih. Really makes the grain pop.

What kind of varnish you using?

I'm starting to look for new seats, should I go with the 8" or the 10" base? I threw the old seats away a long time ago so no way to compare. I'm assuming the 10" because of the fairly high sides. Also are there any other brands besides wise? not having much luck and wise doesn't have any color patterns that I care for. I guess I could always get white then have them re-upholstered.

Looks familiar. Just picked up my Holiday 18 this past weekend. I'll probably follow your footsteps for some of my resto.

Any reason why you are going to keep the back to back seating? The amount of variation a pedestal gives you opens up a wide array of options.

While I agree the pedestal seats are better for the flexibility, I want to keep a certain amount of character that came with the original boat. Also I enjoy the fold down seats for naps out on the water.

Can't argue with that.

Man this year is a mess. have been slowing plugging away at the old girl. It looks like she will be ready for spring so only about 9 months behind my planned schedule.

Its been a while but I found some time to work on the boat the other day. Replaced the old points system with electronic ignition and fired the engine for the first time. Really getting excited for this summer. Definitely going to splash her this year.

Need to catch up on some things. Boat came out of the garage and went back onto the trailer a few weeks ago.

The original (not sure of the actual term) top skin was in pretty bad shape with a lot of excess holes and dents. I had a sheet of 5052 laying around so just went ahead and made a new panel. I also wanted a hatch so I would be able to access the tight area in the future for any repairs etc. This will come in very handy in case I ever need to pull the motor again. I'll fab up some sort of hatch cover later.

I came up with this mount for the bilge pump. It was a real PITA to install. I should have done it before dropping the motor back in.

Progress on the Fuel Tank Tray. There is not enough room on either side to use the standard mounting brackets so this was what I came up with. I plan To use aluminum or rubber straps over the top and I have neoprene padding for underneath. I wanted a bigger tank but was having a hard time finding anything that would work.

Today I was finally able to wrap of almost all of the wiring in the back of the boat and started installing the trim solenoid. I guess I tackle the outdrive next.

I can almost smell the water....

Now that I am staring to think about paint, do I need anti-fouling paint if the boat is not going to stay in the water? Also looking for advise on paint process. I have a pretty nice airless sprayer I was thinking about using but I cant seem to find much info on using them to spray boats. It seems alot of people use the roll and tip method.

Looking good, won't be long now. (y)

No anti fouling paint on AL boats especially freshwater and since it contains copper to inhibit sea life growth in salt water it could cause corrosion.

Great build! Just got caught up. The coosa stuff is interesting and that dash looks amazing. Will be a well earned splash!
