Building me a shed in my parking spot. Got the ok from the guy I rent the space from. Use to have those 12 x 20 pole tents when doing a job like this. I went through 3 of them during summer months storms and winds damage the poles. That was when they were about $80 bucks. Now they are about $140. I figured it would be cheaper to build my own. 12 x 16 just enough to cover the boat. I will slope it going toward the trees. Add about 6 2x4 across and add a tarp over top instead of building a roof. I just need to get out of the sun when doing this work in the summer.

I have not done anything on the boat. Still putting up shade cover to work under. I have not done much with putting that up either. Been working on my other boat trailer and my trying to fix my truck as they both came down with sticking calipers.

Morning D,
Catch up any stripers yet?
Not yet. Couple times out I stayed mostly in the cove anchored by the marina catching up on sun burn. Scrub the boat since I have to pay them in order to get my boat washed as they wont let me do it on the their grounds. I did have a rod and 2 crab pots out catching some small croakers no keepers. I have not had a keep croaker in some years. No crabs. What are you up too?

I went over to the MFG today and test fit the transom I put together. It seems I have a bit too much space between the inside of the outer skin and the new wood midway down. I might have to cut into pieces and put the transom in. I dont want to do that but WTH. I am trying to see if I can get the board to bend a little.

This might be a bad idea but prepared for it. Put a little spray water on hoping to get a slight bow. If not may need to cut it down the sides.

Actually went to check up on it and try to refit. That worked well. Still off just a bit. Gained about a half inch. its about .25 inch off, as I can slide another half inch board between. Just a little more and I will feel comfortable with the clamps and the bond without having to worry about opposite pressure trying to separate.

Following this thread! Looking great so far! Working on a resto myself and have already seen some tips in here that I might apply to my boat! Enjoy!

Went up the road this morning to do some light work on the boat to prepare the transom install. I plan on adding 1 or 2 layers of 1708 on the outer skin and 1 layer 1.5oz mat once I bond the transom in. 36 grit 3 disc

Went over this morning add some 1708 tabbing on the inside of the outer skin bonding it to the inside of the hull. Fixing that split on the starboard side. That stiffened up the the skin pretty good alone the sides. I was going to do 2 layers of tabbing 4" and 7" but decided to do just one 5" layer. Plus I would have needed to grind more. The sun was over head and the resin would gel in less than 10 minutes 7 drops per oz. I keep the MEKP in the fridge so that was another factor why I didn't do 2 layers.

First time using Total Boat Polyester Resin. Previously I would purchase from Fiberglasssite.com but wanted to try something else for a change. Wish I could get in 5 gallon, I may switch back but the 1 gallon is easier to haul out of the house. Might have to pour a gallon out at a time when I go over to glass work since the boat is only 15 minutes away.

Never tried I have looked. I went with Fiberglasssite because they are in Maryland and I have the option to pick up my order in about an hour fifteen minute drive. Or delivered in 1 day. They are located just North of Baltimore. I picked this TotalBoat up from Amazon. Rolling the dice!

Going out tomorrow night to see what I can catch when the sun is down. I will anchor in the river. I picked up a under water led with about 30ft cord that mount to the battery. Will only be in about 8 feet though. I will see if that will bring them down under. Also picked me up a fan encase there is not breeze out there. Come back in the morning and go to work.

I use to have leds on my transom but I needed to remove them as they did not work anymore and they cost about 200 a piece.

Went over today to finish up preparing the outer skin for the bond to the wood. Fill some gaps at the bottom of the transom where the wood meets the bottom corner of the hull and transom. Made 6oz thicken resin to fill the gaps and cracks so I can layup on the bottom of the hull.

Laid one layer of 1708 tabbing and its ready to go. 1708 is so easy to form and layout.
