Mocking up with cardboard at night. Fun.
Now with plywood, built it all mostly out of 1/4" AC scrap play sheets I had leftover from jobs.
Had these little tails hanging out to support eaves but decided to do away with them. Would make for a gassing and finishing nightmare, plus once glassed it would be strong enough without them.
It would have been nice with a wood finish, but I wasn't building it with that in mind.
"Helper" making sure there's a coating of thick hair embedded in every nook and cranny.
Finished! Used rustoleum topside primer and paint. I really wanted to spray it but I didn't want to have to build a spray tent, filter and ventilate it etc. Had to do all the work in my "house" which is technically a "garage" hence you see that I'm simultaneously finishing the walls.
Doing the wiring etc now, mounting vhf antenna, nav lights, rod holders etc. I probably have just under $1k into it. Had a half gallon of epoxy and all the ply, some 1708, plus some of the plexi for the windows to start, but had to buy more epoxy, fiberglass, fairing compound, paint, plexiglass, the rod holders, stainless rail to mount them, and some odds and bits. Will update more photos once I carve out time to finish.
