Here's the hull ID .... Any clue how to find out more? I'm still unsure the year and model. My best guess is late 50's very early 60

Probably correct 50s-60s, but otherwise, its highly unlikely the H-3555 # is going to help you in anyway.

Reality is that thousands of boat builders have come and gone, esp when this boat was built. Some builders lost all their records in accidental fires (Glastron). Others simply threw all the old stuff, brochures and info away when they moved to a facility (Glastron again).

Well that sorta smokes any chance of getting it restored to any sort of like new similarity. my next best option is to just make it as pretty and classic as possible creatively.

SSdale's resto of a Cherokee turned out great. Use him as a resource, and ask for pix of his interior and etc.

Spend several hundred hours looking thru pix online of vintage boat brochures and pix of other people's boats. You'll get a since of how it should look, at least in general, and go from there.

There have been a few other Cherokee's posted, but only a few, and none are currently very active, so posts to their topics won't gain you much if anything. Besides, they've all been inactive for at least 90days, so we ask that you don't post to them.
Cherokee

You could send Jhenry a PrivateMessage, he's the only other Cherokee owner that's been on in a while, other then Ssdale. Good luck

Thx for the help JB , I'm really taken with the lines on this little boat.I will just have to do some digging and possibly do a little improvised custom work so as not to drag out the restoration in search of parts that don't exist . Hope to have mine looking as nice as Ssdales in a year or so.

There is little info and depending on what state you live in, it will be very difficult to title the boat for public waters. Sadly, without the help of a friend who was a politician, I would NEVER have gotten a title and the beaurocrats would have sent her to the scrapper. Just wanted to bring it up before you spend a lot of money. hopefully it isn't a problem for you.

Try googling every combination of the words Mckenzie, Cherokee, boat manufacturing etc... and you will get a few images that will help, mostly from this forum! I will answer everything that I can. The transom should be fairly straight forward without the splash well. If you post more shots of your floor trusses, I can help you work out the original seat/ floor configuration.

I lucked out and mine never leaked a drop, so no experience with serious riveting.
Keep after it,
Dale

Thanks man! I just started buffing the bow. Someone in the past took a wire wheel to the poor thing and scuffed it pretty bad. I procured some scotchbrite pads for my orbital and got to work. It's looking much better. I've got to get it to the media blaster to clean up the interior and bottom shell. I'll post more pics as progress continues

These are great looking boats and worth saving from the scrapper! Will be watching as you progress.

Hey guys I know it's been a while but wife, babies and work have had me swamped. I have made progress. I've cleaned the old Hull and purchased a Merc 35 to power her. I hope to have things mostly water ready in a couple months.

I'll post pics when I have a few more minutes .
Cheers!
