It looks like you are getting to be the expert. I'm waiting on parts for my wizzard. I purchased a carb rebuild kit from discount marine. about $40.00 Good luck with yours, I'm learning from you! thanks, Joe R.

I hope I don't steer you wrong, I,m no expert but i may be by the time i get this running right;) i may need a kit myself, i cleaned it and that seemed to help, had it running for a few minutes, sounded like a peppy motor for 5 1/2hp, my plug wires were hooked up backwards before i believe:confused: i will get it going right eventually:facepalm: i have no manual, going at it blind allmost, i didnt think to observe the location of the pistons when i was setting the points or i would have caught that

thanks, very good info. so far looks like i'm on track. i actually had it running, tried to adjust it but after reading this, i see i need to put it on a boat and stick it in the water to finish adjusting as it needs to be under a load

I hav'nt bought a manual, or rebuild kits, or gaskets, so far just 1 o ring. I told someone it would be bought and running for under $100:rolleyes: Up to $91.24 , thats 75 for the motor, 15 in gas to go get it, the o ring was 1.24, so i only have $8.75 left:facepalm: i got to stop runnin my mouth:)

had some time earlier to mess with the motor, of course my battery on my camera was dead, so it started and i had it idleing and sputtering for 30 minutes or so while i worked on other things. i noticed when i was running it, i had accedentally sprayed fuel all down the side of the wifes mustang:eek: it ran the whole time as i washed her car. had it just above idle, have not yet been able to hold idle. seems like its hunting for timing

i'm having trouble finding the jonboat i want to put this on:facepalm: it has to be under a load to adjust the high speed, so i'm kinda eyeballing the port side View attachment 183774 , i could put in, motor to an out of the way spot upriver then spend the day messing with my motor while i drift along:rolleyes:

thanks, i think it was starving for fuel last time i started it, the fuel line to the pump, looked like vacuum hose, i think it was sucking itself flat. im repainting the boat i bought to put it on, and trying to find time is hard when i could have been boating:D but i keep telling myself, when i finish this i can take it to new places, where the big boat wont fit. yep going to explore those 10hp and electric only waterholes:D

Being in the right price range is important. Do you have titles for boat and motor? or going to play dumb country boy like me?

i have a title for the boat, not the outboard, not sure if it had one, the rules here are strange, rowboats don't need registerd then a motor 3 1/2 hp or larger, makes it a motorboat, now it needs registered. in va where i bought my other boat, the va title included a description of the motor, when retitled in wv they ask about the motor on the application but there is nothing on my new title in relation to to motor, i think they ask as to find out if its more than 3 1/2 hp. i dont know how they keep it straight:facepalm:

so i spent $3.50 on fuel line and $4 on paint, so if i need anything else more than $1.25, i hope i can find it in the garage
