i like white too, but this is so bright dont know if i can look at it in direct sunlight without eye protection:cool: might do a few coats of off-white the part of the lid past the 1st ridge was originally green, i was going to leave it white till i get a jon boat for it then paint that part to match the boat

so the wife was in the garage earlier and she said " thats really not a bad little motor, we should keep it and get a little jon boat to put it on" a few weeks ago it was "i can't believe you paid $75 for that" all i did was clean and paint it. also i cleaned the points to get it sparking and drained water from the lower unit, took apart and cleaned it then sealed, filled it. her change in opinion is based completely on the paint:D

in 1958, my birth year pastels were the rage, you may have seen my 57 pastel blue Scott Atwater, I may go pastel yellow with the hood on it, I think pastel yellow was a factory color for SA back then.
I had never heard of "Super Banana yellow" until about 1972-3ish there abouts when a high school buddys dad bought a new dodge truck with that factory color, we had many a chuckle over Howards yellow truck...it kind of stuck with me for the rest of my life.

You have a classic and valuable old outboard there, I sure would stick as close to factory as I could on that one and hang the Jon boat color

havn't tried yet but im definitly getting her going tomorrow, i need to mount it to something solid as its a little hard to pull, can really feel the compression, hard to think i was spinning it by hand with the plugs out checking spark:D its so light i have to hold it away while i pull the cord. the tiller handle had markings but i can't tell what they said

got it in a tub of water, been pulling the cord, got a couple pops, got to smell burnt 2 stroke, but no putt putt:grumpy: i had hoped it would go easy, but looks like i need to investigate the carb, it was put together with rtv and is dripping from everywhere:blue: bet i find the problem there. also pulled so much the handle broke from the cable, i found a neused one on a broke down mower under the porch that is now fixed:)

i'm not finding much info on settings or start up procedure, i search the web now and my own thread is one of the first suggestions:facepalm: does that mean i'm the expert  if so, o boy :faint2: this is gonna be difficult to figure out, i mean on some you start out at 3 or 4 turns from seat, and some start at 3/4 turn from seat, it would be nice to know a good place to start. i may just have to rig up some kind of electric starter to turn this till i get it set to where it starts the first couple pulls

i'm not finding much info on settings or start up procedure,

One turn "OPEN" from the "CLOSED" position is the initial setting for each needle according to the info I linked you in post#5.

Sometimes when I'm getting a small motor started for the first time I remove the recoil and use my drill driver and a socket on the flywheel nut so I don't have to yank that rope for what seems like forever.
