Well, if I am seeing what I think I'm seeing, you already have a detachable fuel connector clipped to the motor. That is the only difficult part to find. Now all you have to do is as you suggest, clamp a hose to it. If you want a dual-use tank for this and an OMC, simply make up a short adapter hose with OMC motor side connector on one end and your Oliver tank side connector on the other end..

I watched your video and, yes, that fuel hose connector is very similar to an air compressor connector. A check-ball with O-ring acts like a valve inside the fitting so it should not leak when removed. Slide the moveable sleeve and pull the fitting off. You will need primer-ball hose to get the carburetor bowl filled when running it on a boat. For testing, I have used a turkey baster(sp?) to fill the bowl and then run an engine with a siphon hose raised above the engine. Good luck!

EDIT: I could not quite make out in the pictures what is stamped on your armature plate. It appears to say the points should be set at .018 inch gap.

I just looked at your video of the fuel connector. You show yourself moving the sleeve back and forth. When you pull on it, the connector should unlatch and just pull off----as you said, similar to an air hose. You are so fortunate that you have that connector. Trying to find a replacement would be about equal to finding a set of chicken fangs.

As I said earlier, just attach a hose and you are in business.

I haven't gotten to the other videos yet.

That fuel hook up is the same that's on my 88 suzuki, and yes the end that goes on the tank hose is already on. Pull the collar on the fitting back and wriggle it and it should come off.

Coolbri. Hello I just joined the forum, Noticed your post on the 1958 Wizzard 5 1/2 hp. I just recently picked up the same outboard, I collect vintage snowmobiles, and in my last deal I was given 7 old outboards. I think I have a new hobby. I haven't worked on the snowmobile yet, but I've spent time on 2 of the outboards. The 58 wizzard (Oliver) seems like a very well built motor, I have to replace the impeller and some other parts that were missing. So far I've located what I need, can't wait to hear it run. Good luck on yours ,I think I'm going to have to get a small boat to try my New toys Thans Joe

Welcome to the forums, if you need help just ask the forums somebody knows:D i was looking for a kicker motor for my boat, and saw this non descript ad for a 5 1/2 hp gas boat motor, it was only $75 so i sent a response of intrest to the ad, he didn't get back to me i found a little evinrude that was perfect for a kicker:joyous:, after i bought that, he calls wanting to know if i still want the motor:facepalm: i figured for the price i would go look, he had since posted pics so i researched and knew what i was looking at when i went, the seller didnt know it was western auto till i showed him the tag. i will get this going before spring, then i will be the idiot at the launch with 3 outboards on my transom:rolleyes: 2 new ones to test out:)

todays progress View attachment 180881View attachment 180882 filled it with lube, put it back on:cool: the rubber gasket for the water tube had previously been mashed into the top of the water pump half blocking the tube, i made a new one from a piece of rubber hose, after a few dozen trys i got it lined up and on, it was hard to see the tube and pump as the case closes:rolleyes:
