That's alright, thanks for considering it!Sorry----Too far away for quick help.
Ok, good. You can not make a mistake on this simple procedure !
Thanks! I'd be sunk without their help. I tried researching, but it's so old there's not a lot on them other than in the manual. Now I think I'm almost done. I can't wait to get it on the water! The members here are super and can help you with any problem on that great old motor. Good luck!
That's the one I have. All 691 pages of it!that johson red _white book is what you need to service your oldy
see my post above for $20 you need it
I got the bearing fixed! I spent two hours with my finger in the hole exercising it. I used PB Blaster, and I finally got it to move a little bit, and then some more, and then once it was moving good I moved it back and forth until it was 100% smooth. Also, the roller bearing above the thrust bearing is stuck. It's not rusted, and it looks fine, so I don't know why. I'm trying to find out in the manual how to get it out.
Thanks for the tip! I will make sure to remove all of the pb blaster. It'd sure be nice if new hoses and fixing the tank fixed the running issue. Fingers crossed!Next time, use marvel mystery oil or a very light hydraulic oil (gear or steering) Because now you have to get rid of the pc blaster in that bearing. Any way you should pour a little bit of gear oil to flush the bearing and remove the pc blaster.
I keep on forgetting to write it down, but the irregular rpm stuff should solve itself once all the fuel supply hoses are replaced and the tank is fixed
