The carnage left behind. Gonna have to clean that up tomorrow.

Re: 18' Starcraft SuperSport restoration

Last night I scuffed up all my top sides areas to be painted and sanded the deck boards. I didn't get to put on the 2nd coat of epoxy yet or paint. I did, obviously, get those couple holes in the transom that are below deck patched with some JB. So I didn't get all the stuff done I wanted to but quite a bit done. It's cold as heck here but my heater kept the garage above 60. However the thermostat on it appears to be faulty cuz it was kicking it off last night after it got up to a whopping 45. So I took it apart and jammed a screwdriver in it. That kept it running. Going to have to find out if the Dayton will send me a new thermostat.

Nice tin work, you were busy for sure, looks good. Did you use screws on the deck? I see the rivet gun thats why I ask, I know you used that on the bulkheads. Bummer on the rod...cut 'er down and use it for ice fishing :D

Hey ezmobee,
I'll say one thing for those noodles, they sure are colorful. :D
They should keep you afloat. We may need to change your name to noodle man or mr. Noodle. :D
Very nice tin work too.
Really looking good.

Good Stuff EZ..They look so neat and tidy layin there. Hey it looks like you only notched out 1 rib in your plywood upfront..versus my 3 ribs. Is theae because its an 18'? Keeps ya from steppin on the rib..Pretty sure my ribs are higher than the floor up front.
Should have looked into electric heat..this kero heater has me dizzy as a mo-fo..not good..and stinky.

That is some of the coolest **** I've ever seen with the noodles! Do they come in a variety of colors or could you just order all blue or all green:D
That is some outside of the box thinking. Nice work

Nice work EZ! I am also left wondering how you attached the deck? Rivits? Or, maybe just the adhesive? Looks great man!:D

EZ that is using your noodle, ( sorry, you can smack me at Tinstock)
I had to go into reverse just now. I saw your transom installed but didn't see the procedure/pics. It looks great but the wood does not look like it is glassed. I must have missed something. Here is an idea, take your leftover noodles, slice them down the length and slip them over any wires, cables, ect that you may have under gunwales, bow or where ever. That would prevent rattleing and would give more flotation. Kinda like "insulating" procedure. You could put pieces on your rods when they are stored to prevent rattling, or your paddle. You could thread a line through them, add a weight, and taadaaa, a structure marker. I gotta stop, I'm scaring myself.:D

Re: 18' Starcraft SuperSport restoration

Thanks guys. In answer to your questions, the transom is NOT done. It's just cut and fit. Still have to overdrill all the holes and seal it. I have more pics of that when I got to it. I attached the deck with deck screws. They worked OK. Surely will get the job done. I got the shortest ones I could get away with which was fine except for a couple areas where I needed to draw the deck down more than a little bit. I definitely missed my mark a few times with them (or maybe hit some pre-existing holes) so I have a few extra holes. Not super thrilled about that. But they'll all get filled in with epoxy.

Nice work:) The deck looks like a good fit.

Is the rod locker about 6-7ft long? Bulkhead on either end?

Just one more thing to do...purposely swamp the rig this spring to make sure you have enough noodles:p

Looks like it is fiesta time under the deck. Would love to be around when the next owner opens it up. :D

You should have put a clear plex insert in so your work could be appreciated by all. :) Great fun and functional.

Oodles of noodles dude. Makes me wish I did mine as my pink board is probably going to rattle. I'll probably need to use some spray can expanding foam in spots to lock it in place.

It's amazing how much those noodles can float. We floated our familiy of 5 on a handful of them in the pool.

First. Good work as always! She is really coming together nicely.

Second. D*** you you for making such progress, while my boat sits covered in the cold waiting for the next round of snow, you are kicking butt. Shame on you for creating such jealousy! :D

Re: 18' Starcraft SuperSport restoration

I've been working on the boat a lot this week. Got the topsides and any painted aluminum on the interior scuffed up and painted 2 coats. Taping all the aluminum trim was a pain. The only painting I have left to do is the consoles, transom and splashwell which will be completed once the transom is fully installed. Tonight I'm going to put the final coat of epoxy on the deck including a layer of fiberglass cloth on the seams. First I will measure for my marine vinyl and get that ordered. Once the deck is dry enough to walk on, I may start fabbing up my bow and stern casting decks. I'll snap some pics of the paint after I take all the tape off.
