On that note...

Anyone know where I can get a new hull/vin tag from?

I'm guessing like alot of early starcrafts, this one had the sticker on the transom

the transom is rotted out and missing alot... has lots of fun flex too!

I would love to have a new tin sticker made up, or even a plate made up...

Trust me bud. This boat is definately a 1963 Starchief. In 1962 they were red/white and exhibit the same flat hull as the 1963 which was blue/white.The boats were given a distinctive color each year. The larger models anyway. In 1964 Starcraft introduced the Deep V hull in four models-Chieftain/Starchief/Sunchief/Holiday. In 1965 they went to the Concave V hull on the same four models and continued that design for years. Your boat is the same color pattern as the 65-guess they decided to use the blue/white again but the flat type hull gives it away.

So if you go to the 63 brochure it will tell you what specs to put on your data plate then send me a PM.

1963 it is!

I'll gather the info and send you an IM soon, thanks!

And I bet it would be the same type as my 63 jet (sticker), but I like the type on my nova better...

Re: 18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

anyone have a good source for pool noodles?

I have been pricing them out and I find them to be a little expensive.

pink/blue foam board might be a bit cheaper...

And I made a foam cutter a long time back using a piano string, it worked well, but you have to tune the string to the power source, and I created resistance by coiling the power wire around bolts...

I doubt I will bother with it, last time I did it I made a cutout for some tools for a pelican case...

If you use all 1" stuff you can cut it with a razor knife without all the mess....

That's what I'm thinking about going with, but the 4in stuff gives me more volume per $
but it's a pain to work with.

I'll have to check them out again, I saw a few weeks ago they had them for almost $3 each...

And I got the boat back from the welder last night.

Cost me $170, and he did a fantastic job!

I'll get pictures soon

So use the thick stuff as fill and try to do most of the angles/cutting on the thin. That's kinda what I did.

once I get the paint stripped off of the inside and the topside I'll start working on the floors, and mounting the windshield.

and MichaelP is hooking me up with a bunch of goodies that I'm missing, and NB is getting me setup with a new hull loadout ID card :D

Thanks guys :)
