Main bolts in transom are in and sealed with 5200. My next PC will be filling in the top part of the transom where someone cut it down because they used a short shaft motor . then I have a PC already made to go over the fill in PC to tie it together with the bottom side . .
And I have a few patches to put on some holes .

What does that mean watermann?
I'm trying to fix what someone left me .

I pulled off the inside rail to straighten it out and get the carpet off.

I'm pretty sure Rob was merely saying it sucks that the PreviousOwner (PO) hacked into your boat and that it sucks that now you have to deal w it.......

For really vintage tin boats, I often refer to such hack jobs as being done by a SawZall Savant, usually w much less skill then yours appears to have cut with. Looks fairly neatly done, straight and not ragged....

Yeah the previous owner (PO) did a hack job is what that means, I hate seeing that especially on a transom, tough to repair and make it right again for guys like you and me.

I have another PC of aluminum that I'm going to put over that and the lower half to the water holes. Thats the only thing I can do except for changing the whole back PC and I'm not gonna do that . now I just got done removing most of the carpet .

Its been a while since my last post . But work gets in the way of fun sometimes.
Transom work almost done except for a few little patches to get done .
It a slower process then I thought .

Looks to me like you got that transom back to where it should be. :thumb:

People just don't realize how much work goes into getting these old boats back on the water again. When you have your finished project on the water again it will all be worth it.

E260, I think you did a very nice repair on that transom. Looks really good to me. And I bet it was easy to get it all lined up and looking that nice too. JMHO :thumb:

Thanks Guys.
When I got this boat I was looking for a project I bought sight unseen from a friend , well I didn't expect to have the big project just a little one .
But I guess it's good I get to to do it this way , now I know everything on the boat . I picked up a 55hp Johnson for it , I think it will be a good fit for it .
Take care

Good luck with this one being the only project boat once you get a taste of it, so far I'm up to 3 boats for a total of 52 feet of tin restored in 4 years time.

What do you guys think about the PVC sheet for flooring ?
Its only 1/2 inch thick. I could put more support under if need be . I was thinking how easy it would be to clean. Or would it be to slippery ?
Thanks
Bryon .

What type PVC sheet are you talking about? :noidea: And yes I would think it would be very slippery when wet. But I'd like to know what type PVC you are looking at. JMHO

You couldn't cover it with anything, nothing would adhere properly. Plywood is the best option sealed and covered it will last decades.

Well its the PVCsheet they carry at home depot. I can't tell you what kind except its 1/2 in think and 4 x 8.
Could I use the wood seal it with epoxy then spray it with like the stone paint from rust oleum .
I really dont want carpet , just want to be able to spray it out with a hose when I'm done. I will be using it for cat fishing .
Thanks
Bryon

There are lots of options to cover your decking but using spray paint is not one I would advise. If you want to, seal the wood on both sides and paint with non-skid added or spread it on the wet paint. Then finish with another coat of just paint. Rustoleum Pro is a good paint choice.

To get more ideas you should read through some of the restos that are in the SC owners forum. https://s14.postimg.org/kpekkz5ht/20170714_184702.jpg

E260, everybody that replaces their floor (deck) wants the very best materiel that will never ever rot again, but dirt cheap as well. It is the quest we read on these forums so many times. And there is nothing wrong with those requirements. But reality usually sets in and we seem to follow the same ideas about going with quality exterior plywood and coating all sides with polyester and either CSM (Chopped Strand Matt) type of fiberglass material or something like 1708 to make the plywood strong, waterproof and last. So if you find anything else that will fit the bill, let us know so we too can see what you found.

I personally would select exterior grade 1/2" (actually 15/32") plywood and get some polyester resin (usually 435 laminating type) and CSM and have at it. But that is just my opinion and not telling you what you should do. Just offering reliable proven options.
