Yes I appreciate your input however I am looking for an answer to using this oil (which states diesel) in place of something that does not state that ,

But your Mind is made up to use it, and you are just looking for someone to agree with you

the diesel motor needs of today are the same as the flat tappet gas motors of 30 years ago

i run 15W40 Rotella diesel in half the things that I own with pistons (boat included). the other half gets 0W-20 synthetic

Thanks guys for the assurance that it will be fine for a non-diesel motor.I usually use sae 30 heavy duty straight weight oil but it is getting harder and harder to find and this 15w40 is available in abundance and brand variety.I will get on Wallyworld.com and have them deliver to my door in a day.Cant beat that thanks again Charlie

the 15w-40 "diesel" oil is good in many things. I use it in the boat, and also in my motorcycle with a wet clutch. It has the zinc in there that many of the old engines need, and no excess friction modifiers to mess with wet clutches.

Many diesel oils carry both an S rating for gas and a CJ rating for diesel.

I've used Volvo Synthetic and Royal Purple in my I/O, next change, will likely be VP Oil.
