Thanks again Wood......Once again your wisdom has been very helpful. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go that way anyhow. Boat looks great though as is.

WOW, Black from rattle cans! Must be a reflection because it looks dark blue. Sorry.

This is a photo of my Mirrocraft side emblem which cracked and finally broke apart when I took it off the boat.
I cleaned both emblem's with "Simple Green" then re-attached the broken edge w/ca glue, but there was a small chip missing from one of the emblem's. I filled this with JB Weld as neatly as I could. Then I went to town on it w/a tiny, tiny diamond tipped detail bit in a dremel tool at low speed. I took my time and tried to make it look smooth and natural.
Finally, I sanded everything smooth w/400 grit sandpaper, primed, sanded once again, then enameled both emblem's. It's really impressive how nice these came out.

This is after baking at 140 degrees for two hours. This paint job should match my boat quite nicely.

Nice job man! My Mirro Craft emblems are messed up just a little too much for repair unfortunately.

You know what?........Although this project was not a restoration. It was still very important for me to get those side emblems right. So I took my time and paid a lot of attention to the details. It was a bit tedious. Plus.....It rained all day yesterday. I'm happy it turned out well.

Re: 14 Ft MirroCraft Project.........

I got her flipped right side up this afternoon......Here's some pictures of her back on the trailer. Only one issue........The glue holding the carpeting to the seats came loose in some places while she was belly up. I may use some thin aluminum strapping under the seats w/screws to hold the carpeting this time. Otherwise what a great time I had on this little project. I have a lot of respect for those undergoing a full restore on their boats.

I may still add an accent stripe and I'm still looking for registration numbers that match this color. Seems all the stores and marine vendors nearby only carry white and black lettering.

Re: 14 Ft MirroCraft Project.........

Hello all..I see this thread has been inactive for a little bit but hoping I can still get some help.
At the end of last season, I believe I found a heck of a deal on what I think is a 1965 14' Mirro Craft..( Deep Fisherman, maybe?) And a 28 HP Johnson Seahorse and a trailer that seems to be a little big for it..All for $250! Anywho, here are my questions/issues:
1.Is a 28 hp too big for this lil boat? Motor seems fine , just old and possibly needs a water impeller
2.Where can I find original or close light cover for bow and original Mirro Craft emblems for side?steering wheel? I don't necessarily want to restore her to original, but would like to be close.
3. What is the ideal trailer size for my boat?
I've read this thread throughly, and plan on starting to sand her down and repaint. PO installed a wooden bench seat in front, which I plan on retrofitting to the 2nd bench seat, I'm tall and scrunched up there. Boat was in water when I purchased, and I took for a little spin before buying.Rivets are good, and didn't take on any water.
Thanks in advance for your help, about to post some pics.

Jay, not a problem but it really is best if you start a new thread and post your pictures there.
