Prepping for paint inside. Masked off for the non skid areas. The rest is getting painted with whaler blue.

Paint. all the long hours payin off. Loving the color, and overall our fairing turned out quite well. Had to pull some of the tape to see sort of how it will look. Leaving it masked until the non skid gets sprayed. More masking and non skid to come. And it will be time for its accessories.

NIIIIICE!!!!!! The prep paid off big time! Very glossy and smooth. I'd be afraid to touch it I love the color too. Can't go wrong with blue and white on a boat.

Here she is. A few minor odds and ends to complete. Custom seats are being made and need to be installed. Also building a jack plate. The transom was built to 20 inches but these older engines didn't adhere to that standard. Will continue to post if anyone is interested in the finishing touches. Let me know. As well as the jack plate build.

Got started on the jack plate. Parts are drying on my new custom drying rack. Used HDPE for the mounting board.

Got the HDPE from EBAY. There is a seller on there by the name of LowCostMetals. I was able to call them and request the price for the size that I needed. Quick Shipping.
I did underestimate the strength of this stuff though. I ordered 2", probably would have been just fine with 1 or 1 1/2". It probably weighs around 10 pounds for a 12x12x2. The whole assembly ended up weighing 15 pounds once I cut down the 12x12 sheet. It should easily handle a 40 horse. I had the aluminum hanging around. It is 1/4 inch with 3x4 inch legs.

Most HDPE has very poor UV resistance. There are some that have been treated to have UV protection. Having said that, Being that it's black and 2 inches thick, this will help preserve it. The white and clear can deteriorate very quickly in a marine environment. This thick slab of Black should last for many years. Just wanted to make others aware that HDPE is usually not a good choice for Boats and exterior or marine use.

Agreed. For the application and cost of the material it works well as an engine mount.
