Plastic rivets holding in side panel cupholder remove/replace to give access to grab handles?

Answered my own question. These are arrow style non-removable panel rivets/clips. Unlike the tree style or push pin plastic clips found on auto interiors, these apparently aren't designed to be removed. Prying them out with a panel removal tool requires enough force that a thin panel can be...

Plastic rivets holding in side panel cupholder remove/replace to give access to grab handles?

If a mod is reading this, go ahead and delete or move this thread. This would be better in a boat interior section and not hull repair.

Plastic rivets holding in side panel cupholder remove/replace to give access to grab handles?

I found M6 "jack nuts" in stainless on Ebay and a hand install tool. I think this style might be less likely to damage the fiberglass from too much expansion pressure.

Plastic rivets holding in side panel cupholder remove/replace to give access to grab handles?

Thanks for the reply Scott. I have used rivnuts into aluminum but never fiberglass. I didn't use any special tools, only a couple of wrenches to mushroom them out. I worry that the stainless or galvanized rivnuts will cause it to stress crack from pressure. Maybe the pre-bulbed slotted style...

Plastic rivets holding in side panel cupholder remove/replace to give access to grab handles?

The grab handles on my 2017 Stingray 198ls pulled loose. I have shimmed the holes with zip-ties and tightened them up, but it's a poor long-term solution. The issue is that they used stainless wood screws from the factory. I'd like to through bolt them with a nut and a washer. Access from behind...

Procedure to drain and refill closed antifreeze on 5th gen Volvo Penta 4.3?

Thanks. Just ordered the PDF service manual. Hopefully it contains the coolant change as a service item which is not guaranteed as some manufacturers now treat coolant as non-serviceable by owners. I feel like maintenance should be part of the owner's manual and every owner should have access...

Procedure to drain and refill closed antifreeze on 5th gen Volvo Penta 4.3?

Is there a diagram or an image online that shows the drain locations? All I see on the sides are this. Sorry for the quality of the images as it's pretty tight access. Could someone put an x marks the spot on these images?

Procedure to drain and refill closed antifreeze on 5th gen Volvo Penta 4.3?

LeadersRPM online or your local Volvo Penta repair shop. Still no luck on finding a diagram that shows the drain areas or whether this job requires pulling a vacuum to bleed the system when refilling.

Procedure to drain and refill closed antifreeze on 5th gen Volvo Penta 4.3?

My 2017 is a bit low on AF. It takes the yellow VCS. I thought since I'm buying a jug, I might as well drain and refill as it hasn't been done since new. Is it really necessary to drain from three different locations? Is there space for a tray or do I let it run into the bilge and collect from...

Volvo Penta SX power steering actuator fluid leak from large cylinder

According to rebuild company in Florida, the large cylinder cannot be repaired. On my part, the seal was blue. It was still partially sealing but I had a slow drip under the P. I could have driven it as-is but I hate leaking fluid into the bilge. I was forced to purchase a new part. I have it...

Hard starting after drifting with warm engine, Volvo Penta 4.3, V6-200-J (2017), A699123, VPGAS063873, EFI fresh water cooled, SX outdrive

Update. I uploaded a video of the noise to Youtube. See . Is this normal? Both high and low pump cylinders were hot to the touch. Fewer issues with starting the engine warm after topping off the tank. Also ran a bottle of techron. I'm suspecting the screen on the intake in the pump or the check...

Hard starting after drifting with warm engine, Volvo Penta 4.3, V6-200-J (2017), A699123, VPGAS063873, EFI fresh water cooled, SX outdrive

Hi all- Boat starts on first crank when cold and idles smoothly. However, if we shut down the motor and drift for a while or dock for lunch, the boat takes a lot of cranks to restart. Is this normal? This has EFI electronic fuel injection, so the only option is to turn the key, then release for...

Volvo penta steering ram #21910902 overhaul

Pardon me for responding to this old post but I have a follow up question for you. I have the same part code and it's leaking at the large cylinder under the P in PENTA (left side). Did you have any fluid seep in that location? From time to time I will manually push the prop (with the engine...

    Leaking power steering actuator

My actuator has a leak on the larger lower cylinder (outer seal below the letter P in PENTA). Does anyone else have seepage or a leak there? How much is tolerable? My fluid was at the bottom of the dipstick fill range. I often manually push the out drive to one side when backing into the garage...

Help wiring Bennett Auto trim pro and module into existing boat wiring for complete newb

Yep, manual says to connect orange to main helm power. It's also not clear on fuses, though they appear in the diagram. Also spoke to MJ. He said that they assume most boats have "switchable" helm power with on/off switch or battery cutoff switch. My boat has neither so I would have no way to...

Volvo Penta SX power steering actuator fluid leak from large cylinder

I have noticed a leak from the large cylinder (left seal under the 'P' in PENTA) on my 2017 power steering actuator. It is VP part# 21910902 Steering Cylinder SKU: VOL-21910902. Online research indicates the part is non-serviceable. There are after-market seal kits and rebuild services, but they...

Help wiring Bennett Auto trim pro and module into existing boat wiring for complete newb

Update for anyone tackling this. I initially wired this up to main power and discovered there is no on/off integrated switch. As soon as I connected the battery, the system would light up and remain activated. I called Bennett and they said that the ATP controller is designed to work off of...

Help wiring Bennett Auto trim pro and module into existing boat wiring for complete newb

OK thanks. Let's hope they've improved the design of the ATP to last a bit longer. I'm trying to use the electric Bolt actuators as I didn't want to run hydraulics. Since the boat lives out of the water on a trailer, I'm hoping the seals on the electric actuators will last as long as the boat. I...
