And of course, the projects will likely never be done! We bought new speakers since the old ones were underpowered and the fascia was cracking. You can also see the metal accent pieces we bought rather than trying to reuse the old vinyl. Also got a new steering wheel which looks super sharp...

So I got my best friend to say YES, the Admiral is now the Captain, and there is always more work to do. We just finished up the new Schedule 80 PVC and it seems to be the best option so far. re-installed the bilge, dont mind that its upside down in the picture lol.

Now that the boat was running, mostly looking good, and not leaking, it was time for the day I had been planning for a long time. I'm going to cheat and call this its TRUE splash party.... You can see why I am so excited about it for yourself

Finished buffing out the other side of the boat and got her mostly cleaned up. Took the pups for a ride at our state park and they loved it.

After running it around for a while we noticed that there was some water in the center of the boat, turns out the exhaust pipes that ran to the back of the boat had cracked and I didnt notice. Back to the workshop. Not sure if anyone on here has the answer, I kind of figured it out the hard...

So now that you know we're crazy, lets get back to the boat. I tried a few more times to get the boat "tuned" as best my untrained ear could figure out but to no avail. So I gave up and called in some help. I took the boat to an auto shop where I knew the owner. He had an old boat for years...

At this point we were getting excited about the prospect of having a functioning boat.. So we decided it was the perfect time to upgrade the garage. and by upgrade, I mean lift it 21" So I tore off the rest of the ceiling, walls, electrical, doors, windows, etc. Braced the structure, corners...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

The admiral got excited about the progress and one night we pulled out the wood that I had cut for the side accent pieces and made up some vynil to cover them. We re-used the old foam since it was in decent enough shape. We fiddled with the idea of putting the original stitched decals on but...

Thanks Todd those answers were awesome. I'll have to go out and check what I have on the coil and whatnot. Without diving into that wiring stuff quite yet I decided it was time to break out the polyester resin and get seat bases and the side cabinets glassed in. by the way. Using sawdust...

So got under the dash of the boat and installed my new fuse box to replace the rats nest that existed under there before. Checked all my connections and then popped a fuse into the ignition circuit and the motor turned over fine!

AHA!! I believe I've got it figured out! So, I believe my issue was that the gauge wire that was in the starter solenoid circuit was too small.I came to this conclusion after my testing yesterday where I was able to get 12v at the starter solenoid without the wire hooked up. But when I hooked...

This is a very simplified diagram of the circuits I'm testing and the voltages I'm getting. Along with approximate wire sizes. Anyone have advice as to what is going on? Do you think it's wire gauge being too small? I'm jumpering from A to B when it cranks fine

Hey all! Sorry for the long delay, work got super busy and of course got talked into a new Honey-Do project. Let's just say, she hits up Etsy every now and then. But got some updates on the boat as well! Ended up taking the advice to not try and get the welsch plugs back in with the mounts...

And then something that Ive been putting off for a while... The Welsch plugs (many refer to them as freeze plugs). I had a few of them pop out before I bought the boat, likely due to poor winterization, and when I had the engine out of the boat I removed the rest and cleaned up the holes...

I also went through when it was nice out and pulled all the Vynil off the side accent pieces. Traced them onto new wood and cut out new backer boards. The foam was still in pretty good shape so Ill likely reuse it. Also kept the Centruion Logos to try and convice the Admiral to sew them into the...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Yea thats what I thought as well. Maybe I just need to rewire the whole thing. I had good voltage prior to engaging the solenoid then it would drop down very low. I purchased a new Fuse box which should work well as a distribution point. Hopefully that can help to reduce any poor connections...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

So I hopped in the boat after work today and bypassed the NSS. Tried to turn the engine over and nada. Just the solenoid engaging but no crank. I'm hoping it's just low battery... (It was reading 12.3v) so I threw it on the charger for a few hours while I installed the rub rail. The rub rail...

Also. I have some extra components that either I replaced even though they looked fine. Or weren't for my version of the Holley. If anyone needs some spare parts? Or if someone collects them.. I'll probably hang onto them for a few weeks before pitching them

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was filled primarily with yard work as it was 70 and sunny all weekend. the perfect time to till up the entire yard to plant some seed, clear up some brush, built some kayak racks, and the admiral worked on building a little perimeter garden. I also found...
