OK, so I have a 2012 9.9 Merc pro-kicker. I use it for trolling for salmon and walleyes. It runs between 1000 and 1800 RPM for usually about 8 hours to keep the boat speed from 1.0 to 3.5 mph. Now, the thing is everything is fine for trolling and I love it. At the end of the day I usually run...
Sooo, long story short. Couple of years ago rebuilt carbs, new fuel hose's etc. Ran fine two years. Last fall last trip started missing at idle. Left till spring, put in new plugs this year. Seemed OK on muffs. Will not idle at less than 1200rpm and will stop when put in gear. If can get...
OK, so the problem is as the title says. I have a very deep V hull with 24 degrees of dead rise at the transom. Its very good for running in 2 to 3 foot waves on Lake Michigan and I love it for that. However, when I'm trolling for salmon in those same waves it really rolls, I'm talking about...
Well, its only four more days till spring here in Wisconsin! Yeah, and expected to be 5 degrees above too, and only three feet of snow on the ground. Can't wait to get the boat in the water,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,someday.
Went to a small boat show in Green Bay last Friday with my son. Was surprised to see a new Ranger aluminum boat. It was very nice but the fit and finish was not up to the usual Ranger standards. After looking closely I did see a sign that said it was a prototype and that would explain that...
Re: throttel/shifter locatation
How I did it, lower control is the kicker. You can just see the troll master speed control STBD side behind wheel. Directly behind the helm is the sport pilot auto helm. An unbeatable combination of speed control and auto steering.
OK, so I use Stabil (not marine)in most everything for long or off season storage. Lawn mower, motor cycle, boat motor, weed trimmer, etc. I moved not long ago and found some old stabil, like maybe 6 to 10 years oldish best guess. A couple of large bottles, one opened half gone and one still...
Re: Question about steering connecting kicker motor to big outboard
I bent mine but I think it will work if straight too. I made mine from some old SS rod and a couple of go kart tie rod ends. Much cheaper for me.
Re: Trolling Motor
Yeah, I got a 25" kicker even though I only needed a 20". Reason being I expect to replace the boat in the next couple of years. So I figured a simple Aluminum riser would be cheaper than buying a new kicker when I make the change.
Hardest part for me was making a plate to...
Re: Kicker Motor Setup
I have a 9.9 merc pro-kicker. I got the remote and mounted it below my big motor remote. Its hooked up to my big motor for steering when trolling. I can do throttle and shift and steering from the front, works great. I can troll at less than 1mph for walleyes. I also...
OK, I've got a 79 1/2 (no distb)115 merc. Motor came without tilt and trim so I found a used complete set-up on Ebay. Its the one that has the pump inside the boat. I used it for two years with great success. Then, I had a drip on one of the hoses at the bottom of the trim ram, STBD side...
I've got an F50TLHU I bought new, serial 62Y450764X. Can't remember the year anymore. Early 90's. Anyway I want to rebuild the carbs and looking at parts here on iboats I can't find that model. Anyone out there can help me?
I just got nominated to rebuild the carbs on a 40hp Johnson. Model J40ELCDE, Serial G7101412. Its a motor for a family used pontoon and I'm sure since it was new has only been taken off the pontoon and hung in a shed for the winter. Never had any work done on it before and this year its not...
OK, some background: I restored a boat last winter and of course did a major rewiring. Everything new and protected with breakers.
I have found only one problem; when I try and trim the engine at speed I blow a 20amp breaker, works fine on the trailer or idling in the water. Did some...
Re: Merc 9.9 kicker handle shift kit?
You could get the parts to convert to remote control instead of tiller. No idea of cost, might be expensive from merc. I got mine with the remote control and mounted it below my main engine control. I have the speed control too and like it a lot, you...
Re: Adding a Kicker, Need some tips
I have a second fuel source. Thought about using the same tank with a valve but decided to have seperate tank for possible, not likely, but possible contamination problems and I buy the cheapest ethanol fuel for my old 115 and the alcohol free good stuff for...
Re: kicker: 2 or 4 stoke?
I've had both and I like my merc pro-kicker 4 stroke the best. Don't understand the "extra" maintenance everyone is talking about. Yes I have to change the oil and filter but I don't have to buy any 2-stroke oil to run it. The spark plugs last longer. I don't love...
