Adding Distilled water to battery. what qualifies as distilled?

Just to complicate matters further in the UK we use de-ionised water to top up batteries.

Will epoxy based fibreglass resin stick to marine ply that has been sealed with an epoxy based sealant.

If you use epoxy resin for everything rather than mixing different materials you will have no problems. Epoxy resin will stick to the ply better than epoxy sealer and if you use epoxy resin and bi-axial cloth ( that's what we call it in the UK) for all the rebuilding work then you will have no...

Prop' set suggestions for Bravo 3x coupled to 250hp Vetus diesel 4,200 rpm max. (UK based)

I must admit that one of the props had a damaged blade but after Steel Developments had repaired it I was still in at around the £200 mark. So after your help and that of others here and at YBW I think I'll stick with what I've got for now and see how they work. By the way I'm also looking at...

Prop' set suggestions for Bravo 3x coupled to 250hp Vetus diesel 4,200 rpm max. (UK based)

Further update. spoke to a UK agent and he suggests starting with a 3 blade 16 x 21p set. I've got a 16 x 24p set that I picked up very cheap on Ebay (£120) so I'll probably give them a go to start with even they'll probably load the engine down quite a bit. But it will give me a definite...

Prop' set suggestions for Bravo 3x coupled to 250hp Vetus diesel 4,200 rpm max. (UK based)

Hello again Q, Yes, you're right, we met on YBW. As far as I can ascertain the original engine was 160hp and it was running an old OMC stringer drive but I didn't check the ratio before scrapping. The engine/drive package was supplied by Vetus as the recommended combination.

Prop' set suggestions for Bravo 3x coupled to 250hp Vetus diesel 4,200 rpm max. (UK based)

Boat is a Reinell V-204, Displacement around 7,000lbs, Reduction ratio 2.2:1. I just need a starting point to get me somewhere near the right prop' set. I've not found any guidance or charts to help so far. Thanks, Peter

Installing imitation teak decking on a 1978 V-204

It's not teak, it's the UK equivalent of Flexiteek and other similar makes and is bonded down using Saba Sealtak 750 which is a polyurethane adhesive sealant and doesn't mind temperatures down to about 6º C.

Installing imitation teak decking on a 1978 V-204

You can see what an untidy worker I am, but it's getting done despite the low temperatures in Devon, England at the moment.

Surprising what you can do with a bit of practice

Currently rebuilding a Reinell V-204 1978. Here's the helm before and after. Remodelled using 3/4 ply, then skinned and faired with GRP and finally sprayed with Jotun two-pack. Cheers, UK Peter.

    Hurray, we're back!

After a fairly long period of being barred from the forum due to EU (spit!) rules it seems that us UK folk are back! Always enjoy seeing what you lot are up to. In some respects US boating is quite different to here in the UK apart from the fact that boats break down and fall apart wherever they...

Bravo 3x power trim wiring harness diagram

I'm currently installing a new (2014 model) Bravo 3x and the one thing I can't source here in the UK is the power trim harness from the switch to the pump to the trim limit switch and I don't really want to have to buy a manual just for this diagram. Can any one point me in the direction of the...

1978 Reinell V-204 rebuild in the UK

A few more horror pics to be going on with: The rot in the engine compartment bulkhead had extended forward to the midships half bulkhead. Note the plastic water tank behind the bulkhead prior to removal of bulkhead and tank. Forward saloon floor cut open to reveal more oil and slabs of...

1978 Reinell V-204 rebuild in the UK

Exactly my thoughts, and it means you can make the boat unique and totally suited to what you want rather than what the makers think you want. Some pics up of the real horror. Out comes the engine for rebuilding. Engine compartment bulkhead - aaargh! Aluminium fuel tank removed for...

1978 Reinell V-204 rebuild in the UK

Having seen Crazy Finn's thread I thought you boys (and girls) might like to see what I'm doing here in the UK with this old Reinell. I needed to down size from a 40 foot steel flybridge cruiser, (you'd probably call it a trawler). Anyway the gallon a mile running costs was getting prohibitive...

I'm looking for a pair of side lights like these.

I believe they were Aqua Signal, but are long out of production. I've had no luck in the UK so wondered if anyone sees a set for sale anywhere (new or secondhand) in the USA they could let me know. Thanks, Peter

Sea of Cortez and Hetta Coffey

Been reading the Hetta Coffey series from Jinx Schwartz. Great books, very entertaining with enough factual boat knowledge to make them even more interesting. Makes me wonder if the Sea of Cortez is packed with murderous drug smugglers though. (Probably not I guess! but makes for exciting...

    GM 6.5 V8 diesel water injection riser/bend/elbow?

Re: GM 6.5 V8 diesel water injection riser/bend/elbow? Here's a couple of pics of the 'dry riser'. I need a water injection elbow/riser to fit the top with a 4 inch outlet. The gasket size is 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. If anyone can point me in the direction for ordering one I'd be most grateful. Thanks...

    GM 6.5 V8 diesel water injection riser/bend/elbow?

Further to the other thread on this engine. We have the water-cooled manifolds, a two into one dry riser which has water passages at the top to inject water from the manifolds into the exhaust pipe-work. The only thing we are missing is a riser or elbow to connect the dry riser to the exhaust...

    GM 6.5 V8 diesel

In the UK these engines have a terrible reputation thanks to a company buying ex-military engines, fitting marinising equipment and selling them on. There must be millions of them in trucks and military vehicles so they can't all be bad. I'm about to fit one which we've rebuilt into a sport...
