Getting ready to primer a project and can't find much information on how much to thin it. I'm using rustoleum clean metal white primer with a harbor freight hvlp. I also have majic reducer I can use. Just looking to find out at what percentage to thin it.

Vortec heads and the quench factor

I recently buttoned up my 4.3 build but now after some research have some questions. Engine is a '90 4.3 roller motor with speed pro flat top pistons and I upgraded to vortec heads. From what I have found the optimum quench is .040. From what I calculated mine is .064. Ami going to have issues...

Rear of boat occasionally pulling down on port side.

I have a 1990 larson laser 18' with 4.3 Mercruiser. I have had it out twice and have a little concern with it. It will pull down the rear hard on the port side, almost feeling like it is getting pulled under. It has happened once each time it has been out and I can't figure out why. It concerns...

    1973 MC 165hp inline 6 milky oil

I have a 165 inline 6 I just picked up and the oil is milky. I found one small hairline crack in the block on the port side. I pulled the pushrod covers and found no visible cracks. I believe this sat outside for awhile so I'm wondering if it might be just from rain. I was curious weather there...

Tonight I'm going to look at a 90hp merc for my starcraft. He says he thinks it's early 90s but said he doesnt know for sure and doesnt have any pics. I did some research and came up with a dozen different answers. They ranged from 81 to 89. One I saw said when the switched from distributor...

    19 something Starcraft Star Trek

As some of you already know I went after another Starcraft today. I was hoping for another SS but it turned out to be a Star Trek. It's an outboard model and rated for an 85hp motor. I think a 90hp 'rude would be good. It was pretty well gutted already, the floor was completely gone. The transom...

    1977 Starcraft Supersport

Picked up and SS today for a measley 350 bucks. Hull is in excellent condition but the interior needs some work and the deck may need replaced. I did notice it has a cracked block but the head looks newer so if it's not cracked internally I may be able to JB weld the crack until I find a...

    1977 American jet boat

I picked up a new project the other day. It will probably be slow moving like all my other ones. It's a 77 American jet boat. It has a Jacuzzi jet drive and was originally powered by a small block chevy. The jet drive turns freely. The boat itself needs alot of work. All the wood is rotted and...

Cracks between intake scallops, '79 150hp Evinrude

I have a '79 150hp Evinrude that has a blown piston (top port side) I believe it was due to overheating or carbon build up as it still has the high ring groove pistons. As I was inspecting the block I noticed cracks between the intake scallops. They don't go into the sleeve. I was just wondering...

Trim fluid for '79 150 evinrude

I have a 79 150 evinrude that is low on trim fluid. I have read several threads online with mixed opinions. Some say use trim fluid and others say ATF. I am just testing all systems right now. I was just curious what everyone recommends.

tool for removing pinion nut on 1972 1400 mercury

I'm looking for the tool to remove the pinion nut from a '72 1400 mercury. I think it's just an adapter that slides on. The only ones I have found are for Mercruiser and I'm not sure if they are the same or not. If theres another way to do this without the tool that would be great to know as well.

    1972 Glastron GT-160

Well I picked up another little project this weekend. I thought it would be good as it would give me a chance to do some glasswork on a smaller scale before jumping into the Silverline. It's a 1972 Glastron GT160. The transom, deck and stringers were just replaced but it wasn't a very good job...
