    Going to look at a 1997 Johnson to replace my 1984 Johnson; the owner of the 1997 Johnson says runs well but won't idle. The owner thinks it is a dirty carb; what could this indicate? Once have been told it could be a sensor in the control box. Is there one, or could it be that the lower seals...

    Hope someone can help have dropped the lower unit and taken all the bolts out to seperate top end from mid-section everything seems to be loose & free but I don't know how to take the plastic throttle rod which drives the gear to the handle have removed handle & gear which is on housing side...

    my old motor was running nicely and suddenly I had a lack of power, 1 coil was dead, after replacing it, I noticed chunks of rubber and black oily sluge in the holes that are just above the cav plate no water was coming out of the motor, so I want to drop the lower unit to check the water pump...
