I have a rare 1989 Yamaha sterndrive lower unit with a damaged bearing carrier, 6J900 on it and also S-1. I have another good bearing carrier with the same number except this one has S-2 . Does anyone know if there’s a difference between these two carriers?
I needed to align the gimbal bearing on an 89 Yamaha sterndrive and discovered that the steering column from my 68 dodge b body would work perfectly. It fit perfectly in the bearing. I inserted a one inch keyed shaft until i hit the bearing. Adjusted the gimbal bearing until the shaft entered...
89 Yamaha sterndrive with new bellows still leaking just under the gimbal bearing. I'm assuming its the exhaust gasket or a cracked y pipe. Is there a trick to diagnose this while the boat is in the water ?
