    700 Merc. Stator 1976

    I think I recieved the wrong stator. The old one looks like it had 8 poles and the new one has 6. I have spark and fuel but the motor will not run or fire up at all.. Will the wrong stator throw the timing off? 1977 not 1976.

    How do you determine if the ignition coil is bad? The conductivity on the primary is so low I can't tell if I'm getting the proper reading or not. The secondary tower to ground is not showing the correct reading either. Should I just replace them? The stator was bad and replaced. The trigger...
