    92 Evinrude 50hp Carbon on lower piston

    Have 92 Evinrude 50 hp. Removed plugs for midyear check, lower piston shows considerably more carbon buildup than top piston. Plugs are in good condition with the same light tan color. Anyone know what causes this carbon buildup on just the one piston?

    I have a 91 johnson 40 hp and the manual calls for the low speed idle adjustment of 2 1/4 turns from a lightly seated bottom.     I purchased a 1991 johnson 40hp 2 cyl. tiller model that I have tried the Joe Reeves timing method on. All the linkage have been set as per Clymer manual #B733, 91-94 models, pages 258-260. timing calls for 18-20 degree BTC. Which means that timing should be set at 15-16 degrees. Timing marks...
