I have a 91 john. 40 hp and would like to convert it from the vro pump to the standard fuel pump. The standard old style pump I have has three pipes, I know the plastic tube on the face of pump is for the inlet fuel line, but need advice as to where to go from there. I have machined an aluminum mounting bracket for it just need advice as to where line(s) need to be connected and if need to tee lines to each carb. and pulse limiter. Any help will be appreciated. thanks,RC3469

Re: 1991 johnson 40hp pump conversion

have you purchased you r pump yet? if not.

Replacing Vro pump

You can use any of the following 3 line pumps
0385784, 0395712, 0398385, 0433390, 0438559 these are all BRP pumps, there is not an after market pump. You have fuel inlet, fuel outlet, and the pulse fitting, that was used from the Vro pump you will have to make a bracket to mount it on.

if you have purchased the 3 line pump, already the center inlet is the fuel out. the black cover is fuel in. the tee to the carbs should all ready be there.

Re: 1991 johnson 40hp pump conversion

Thank you for the quick reply, Tash, I have a pump Sierra #18-7353 ( which the marine dealer says will fit 25 - 70 hp) and have machined a bracket out of 3/8" thick aluminum for mounting. If I understand you right, And looking at front of pump, the bottom middle right side tube goes to carbs. and the bottom back left tube goes to pulse limiter. Thank you, RC3469
