1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I rolled mine off the trailer and rolled it over on the grass. Then I put it on a simple 2x4 dolly frame with large casters underneath. Perfect for doing the bottom. I left the sides for when it’s back on the trailer. Otherwise painting the sides this way would have been too low.

    Ss16 floor supports

That’s what I was going to say. Allows water to go to the bilge if the boat is sitting level, which is likely rare but i guess it does happen. Mine sits low at the stern.

Post a pic of your starcraft!

Man, that was a beautiful boat. I agree the doghouses take up lots of space. Would have been a great candidate for a OB bracket conversion…I would love to have snapped that up (if I had room or time for another project)

    My New 1970 Starchief

Ok this is weird, I could swear I was looking at a batch of pics on a different boat. I want to look again this am and they are gone?? I didn’t dig up a year old post here

    My New 1970 Starchief

Looks great. In my area, that would be a killer steal. Great looking boat. I like the half curtain. That really opens it up

    Is it needed?

1/4” aluminum would work well. I will never use wood again

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

That’s what I figured. Cladding it where it sits then

Shame to cover it up. Looks like a nice piece of mahogany. I bet it would glow under some varnish

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Hey guys, before I wrestle this piece out, will it drop out without a major major battle? I want to re-clad it with the blue nautolex. Perhaps make a padded piece for it later. But for now the fake Burl has to go. I don’t want to sound lazy but to disconnect everything and drill the rivets just...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Too funny, I just looked at similar rig this morning. First look from its winter storage…Full of water and water damage…couldn’t drive away fast enough! Check your roof constantly if you’re towing her.

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

    I would look at a two-part epoxy

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Me, I’m partial to white and blue…real nautical but it could look sharp grey. Will the boat be launched for the season or trailer stored? How are you painting it? Spray or roll and tip?

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Last of the classic f150s right there…then they got real ugly until they lost the “car” look.

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

And I’m having serious doubts that my boat will see water before end of June. It will probably be splashed just before winter storage lol

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

Sounds like a solid plan. I’m planning on keeping my boards elevated for the same reason. The boards that separated the helms and bow seating were completely rotten on the bottom. Both because the dash was draining on top of them, and because they were double clad, sitting directly on the floor...

I don’t know about the required torque specs but I’d use Nylock nuts. Not compression nuts though. Stainless threads can be nasty for galling and seizing. I never use impact guns on stainless hardware either

The one I was contemplating using says no feedback. I don’t understand what you mean about nfb box
