    21' Holiday Rebuild

They were the rib rivets near the bottom of the bow. But they are replaced and good to go

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well did a leak test today. Was able to fill the boat then empty with some big totes on dollies while keeping the boat inside. Found about 10 rivets in the bow that leaked. I am just hoping I am not doing all this work to just have another dozen rivets leak in a couple years

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Couple seat bases came in the mail today from the Springfield scratch and dent outlet. Went with permanent seats in the front then will do removable for the 2nd row. Didn’t need the base with the 1 flat side but the price was right. Shock height adjustable with slider. 2 7/8" post move 5"...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

So I decided to go with vinyl floor. Trying to figure out how to attach the wood floor when I’m done with foam. Going to use blind rivets. Should I just drill and rivet with some 5200 in the hole or counter sink rivet then use some epoxy over top. My concern with counter sinking is the risk that...

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

as for support, I would not recommend trying to glass in some structure. Eventually it will give way and make room for water to penetrate. Then you have the same hull flex that you have now plus trapped water. Poly resin does not stick to AL like it does on wood or fiberglass hull. If you are...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

And yes I will be giving the hull a good cleaning before installing the foam and flooring

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Got the sides riveted up and pretty happy with the way the are looking. Started cutting out foam. Going to make the middle foam piece smaller and glue to the pieces next to it to raise it off the hull to make a water channel of the wheel holes get clogged in the ribs

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Made some headway on the side panels. Everything is in but need to finish rivets, elbow started to give out on me. @Watermann i thought about doing vinyl but it’s all trimmed out in AL and can’t wrap the panel now. Also got a transducer mount installed and the one floor panel reinforced for the...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Very nice! Now the fun begins. It’s great when you realize that the fear of doing solid rivets is unwarranted. Once you and the admiral get it down you will be rockin and rollin. I find the riveting kind of hypnotizing. My tendons on the other hand, hate me the next day. I usually use the buck...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well I got one panel in and turns out I only had a about a dozen blind rivets so I will get more tomorrow. I did put foam behind it. I think it will look better when fully riveted. I am also putting a 2” AL trim piece across the gunwale since the sides don’t go all the way to the top any more...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well, my AL sheet showed up. It is actually a 4'x10' piece .08" thick. I guess I'll have some extra to play around with.

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Yeah I didn’t think I would have gone through so much money in consumables (cutting disks, sanding disks, wire wheels, gloves, acetone, etc) yes I will be able to pull the floor with out removing the sides. I would have to pull the steps that go to the dash but that’s not too bad

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Got some work done last night. Nothing to exiting. Just some sanding on the floor panels rounded all the edges so the epoxy will work easier. On more panel to go

    21' Holiday Rebuild

I contemplated doing the AL floor and hydro turf but it would cost more than the entire boat and motor is worth lol🤪. I’m hoping this way that if I ever have to replace floor and transom it will be easier bc before I couldn’t get the floor out with out taking the side panels off

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well I ordered a 4x8 sheet sheet of .080” 3003 aluminum. The supplier had 5052 for $200 and the 3003 was $180 so went with that, hope it’s ok.
