    1959 boat identification

Very cool boat. With a full restoration that thing could be sweet! The hull looks to be in great shape. Nice find

I guess I will run the 1/4” plate on the outside all the way down to cover those holes bc I didn’t even think about those holes not lining up. I was wondering if I should move the plug sine it’s all open. Is it bad to have it in the knee brace, I’m just thinking about clogs

Thanks. I just keep telling myself do it right one time so I don’t have to do it again

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well today I found a good bit of corrosion while doing some cleaning on the hull. Under the knee brace was a big dent and pitting. So I cleaned it up and going to add 2 1/8 plates (I don’t have one plate big enough and this I can shape better. I added one then ran out of 5200. I was much cleaner...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Got the 11 brackets made for the port side and one coat of epoxy on the transom. Not going to sandwich the hull like I did on the starboard side bc port side shows no cracks or bending. Getting ahead of myself but saw a picture of a ladder that I want. I can’t afford this one so going to see if...

Thanks guys. It’s ugly but should brace the cracks and side walls

    21' Holiday Rebuild

So the one side is done except we need to rivet th support to the side wall. Turned out pretty good but we had a huge issue with the 5200. I’m embarrassed to even post pictures. We put 5200 on the wrong side of the panel and slid it into place only to realize we had to pull it back out and start...

Thanks. I will post pictures this evening. I tried to convince the admiral and she said there was no way.

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Well decided to do a combo of what Cat and Grandad did. Found a panel of aluminum off a semi trailer That is just a hair shy of the same thickness as the hull, so that helps. I’m going to run a 5” strip under the ribs but inside the hull then another strip on the outside of the hull to make a...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Sorry for the multiple posts and questions but I will sum it up here. Got 11 brackets made for the starboard side and recruited my cousin to help riveting some time next week. Still need to make port side. I have a good amount of bending in the hull by the end of the ribs and some stress...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Can I rivet through the sides with them painted. Wasn’t planing on repainting this time. Maybe next year

    21' Holiday Rebuild

So starting on the hull supports and there will be about 7 of them that need to have two bends like in the picture. I know it’s not ideal but will it be ok? The other should just have one bend but this area of the hull is bent the most

    21' Holiday Rebuild

I have an Eastwood supply locally and they have Clecos and rivets in stock. Will try to make a trip out there today

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Yeah I think clecos are in order and going to go with waterman and your design plans. My wife said to spend what I need as long as I don’t bring another boat home so might as well turn this thing into a battle ship. I think with enough practice and 5200 I should be able to make some water tight...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

What if I did something like this. Red dots = rivets. Solid in the side and pop in the rib. This way I don’t have to trust my poor riveting skills under the water line

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Practicing some solid riveting on my stingers first 1/8” x2” flat bar on the bottom 1/8” angle on the top. I do have some crack on the starboard side. So I think I will end up doing some through hull rivets. But on the bright side, my stepdad had a riveter and aluminum rivets at the warehouse

Thank you. I really like the bracing you did in the bottom left of that picture but I think I am going to go with the options you just mentioned

    21' Holiday Rebuild

I dug through a ton of your build and not to keen on doing that much bracing. you did an amazing job but it looks very difficult and scary to drill that many holes in my hull. I have minimal experience with AL, good amount with steel. my ribs appear to be in good shape. would it work to do one...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Yeah the SW cracks have been bugging me but not sure how to repair. I thought about adding a 4" wide 1/8" thick bar stock across the entire width of the SW on the under side and solid rivet but wasn't sure it that would be sufficient or if I need to find some one to weld it up. The knee brace...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Thanks, I have been digging through here for awhile and did see your posts about the brake. I thought there would be a ton of corrosion as well. There is a good deal of pitting on the outside of the transom but I am going to add a 1/4" AL plate and 5200 to cover and reinforce. This is not a...
