50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Thank you. No clunking. Just Chuggy And good to know that that is the only performance I’ll get out of a 50. It doesn’t surprise me though. My waterlogged 16 foot aluminum super sport would go about the same speed with a 65

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

New to me motor - first time setting up Should be no water in the tank unless the fuel I got had it in it from contamination in their storage tank. Prop is slightly worn, but ever so lightly, I will put on another to try.

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Thanks! Compression is 105-110 I think or 110-115 (it has sat a few years since I did it so I’m a bit foggy. It is in that range, all cyls close. I did link and sink by manual. Checked timing mark on flywheel with piston stop. It’s bang on. I think cam roller is good. Black plastic sleeve on it...

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Thanks I will. Too late tonight. I’m up at 4:30 for work. If I have a bad spark, what might be the most logical culprit to check be? Do coil packs go bad? Stator? Plug wires? Other? Plugs are new. Could it be something in the advance? Full out I got 30mph in a 15.5’ fiberglass deep vee. Kind...

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Hey guys, having some troubles with a 50 hp three cylinder OMC. 1995. I rebuilt the curbs hoping it was a fuel delivery issue. New fuel filter. Was running out of sunlight tonight so I took it out for a quick spin. I didn’t get a chance to spark test. Extremely busy these days And it was a...

OMC specialty products for carb rebuilds?

Hey guys I am rebuilding a set of 1995 Evinrude 50 hp carburetors. Just a few questions. With OMC being gone by way of the Dodo, does anybody know equivalent for specific OMC specialty products? It is important that these are easy to find over the counter solutions. I need to transport this...

    Towing 18 foot StarCraft.

I am with the others. Not sure what your Ranger can tell but it’s gotta be at least 3500 pounds? In that case you have tons of reserve. Or tons left for cargo I figure that my 16 footer with a 70 horse OMC, 2-3 tanks and kicker on the back, 3 batteries and a front troller are not even tripping...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

The pics I posted are the ones he took in his driveway actually. If you are thinking of getting some done you can come look at mine as an example. Boat will be at my home until tune up is done, maybe a week or two. He’s a good guy I’m sure he won’t mind you stopping to see one he’s working on...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Ok so not SS160 project related (that is now mothballed again until this winter, or after I get the stacked and stalled honey-do list done) but I just got covers made for my “beater boat” and I am thrilled. My guy did them quickly and at a reasonable price. Next week I’m going to rebuild the...

    Grew Sportster?

Hey guys, trying to find info on a boat that I was told was made by Grew but I can’t find any info on it. It’s a 2002 15 or 15.5’ (assuming measurement is taken in a straight line from bow to transom). No tags or labels just a vin # Did they ever make a “Sportster” model? Thanks

50 hp evinrude triple low speed issues and short top end

Thanks. Service Unknown. I bought it used 2 years ago from a backyard marine mech. Hood is beat up & faded and covered in heavy shop dust. My guess is it was not well loved. I have not touched carbs yet. Rebuild kits ordered. Primer valve inline with primer body. Pointing to other end of primer

50 hp evinrude triple low speed issues and short top end

Great thanks Jimmbo. Appreciate the crank wire idea. I thought it would be more elaborate than that, so no complaints here! I’m definitely going to clean/rebuild carbs and I’ve done the link & sync before. I’ll blow out or replace smaller fuel lines. (Probably the latter) I’ll check the...

50 hp evinrude triple low speed issues and short top end

Agreed, but to clarify; Compression in the crankcase to run pump and move fu to cyl? What would the suspect cause be here? Gaskets? Reeds? Do you think 105-110 is getting low enough to cause idle issues? I’d think 85-90 to be consider low, right? Im thinking that’s more carb issuers and low...

50 hp evinrude triple low speed issues and short top end

Hey guys, tried out my new to me 50 and it did not run well. Fires right up, no issues Warms up well on fast idle. Slow acceleration is issue one. It does a fast ch-ch-ch stutter until I give it more throttle and then it clears up and then it runs nicely. Electrical?? It has no real top end...

    1973 ISLANDER REFIT

Hey, welcome back can I ask where you got the aluminum planking? I’m trying to find a supplier that has some and a wood grain. Wondering if these guys have it. The guys I’m trying to get it through are very unreliable. To the point where I’ve sourced it in the US considering the freedom...

OMC Controls - Alarm during warm-up

Got it. Simple answer for any of those who wants to know, disconnecting the wiring harness to the VRO pump will disconnect the alarm. The fuel pump itself is a pulse powered pump. Meaning no electrical to the fuel pump itself. No wires = no alarm
