MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Did it just as Chris describes in his video. Results in the same direction.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Yep, figured I might as well inspect while I have it open. Gracias.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Thanks Chris, yeah I'm gonna crack it open again. I'm sure it's the pocket cover. I'm kicking myself right now for not inspecting that...ugh. By the way, the Alpha-1 pocket covers...will they work on the MC-1 by any chance?

    MC-1 Water Blockage?

Hey folks, So if any of you are familiar with my other post, you know that I have some sort of blockage condition. Well, anyway...per Eric's suggestion, I pulled the outdrive off, stuck a hose to the water inlet, fired it up and a nice flow of water came flowing out of the Exhaust/Water exit...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Yeah, everything was installed properly including the copper pipe and guide tube. I followed Chris' video to the T. Although working on boats is new to me, I'm fairly certain that it's something else. Thanks Kenny.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Well, alrighty then...Looks as if I'm gonna get a "crash course" in sterndrive mechanics. One video I watched made mention of a gimbal tool when reinstalling...Is there anything special I should know prior to this procedure? Once again, I thank you for the direction Eric.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

I'm kinda at a loss. What is there between the impeller and the "plumbing" to the HX? The fins in the impeller are in the same direction as the old one, the key is in the shaft to lock the impeller, the tube is in place and seems to have when in fine when I joined the upper and lower housings...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

So, if the diagrams are correct, I believe I disconnected the raw water "exit" and inlet hoses on the HX (see pics). I believe that is direct connection between the sterndrive and the HX? If it is, no water came out of the hose connected to the HX while running the engine. Any thoughts on what...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

    Kinda thought so. Thanks Bondo.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Well, I think we may have an issue. I placed the thermo cap on and started the engine. Now I know I shouldn't run it w/ the prop going, but I noticed no water coming out from anywhere on the sterndrive other than the muffs. I tried it in neutral and forward and didn't notice anything. My wife...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

That may be worth checking out. The muffs that came w/ the boat are rather stiff and they do leak an awful lot when the water is turned on and engine running.

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

They were broken and 1 piece was "missing" but I believe it came off when I removed the housing since I found it right below in the metal gasket flange. They were broken and in bad shape, but I don't believe any pieces made it into the system. Here's the pics...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Exactly the same...Perhaps bad advice then? I mean honestly, never heard of anything like that, ya know?

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Hey Eric, yes, this is new to me. I followed Mike's advice and already ordered a Mr. Gasket thermo cap for pickup tomorrow. I purchased a 4" exchanger on ebay, but someone told me, after I purchased it of course, that I can't install it in my rig because It'll foul things up. Never thought of...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

First things first...Let me take a moment and thank you all for the advice and direction. I certainly couldn't have done it without you all. So, the impeller has been replaced, the upper/lower housings back together. Shifting is working just fine, so I slap the muffs on her and fired her up. Of...

Joining Upper and Lower Housings, Can't Turn Driveshaft...

Your video proved to be invaluable. Your statement about tightening the nuts "firmly" was the trick. Apparently I tightened them down too much. I backed them off a bit, slipped the prop on the shaft and was able to turn the driveshaft. Than you for the info and tanks everyone for the help. Now...

    MC-1 Lower Housing Part ID...

Thank you Chris and yes, I see your point about putting the info in the title...I should've realized that. Thanks again.

    Damaged Shift Washer?

After doing some reading on this forum, I've come to realize that there are two washers that fit over the shift shaft on the MC-1, yes? A rubber one and a SS one. Well, I only have one and it appears to me as if it "malformed". Before I put the sterndrive back together, I feel I should probably...
