    1978 Starcraft 22' SuperSport Project

Welcome! I'm not a Starmada admin but I'm guessin' your mob dues are paid in full with that photo gallery! Quite a project converting to O/B. A few have started the process but it's rare they complete (&/or document the completion here) so I'm excited to see this soup-to-nuts.

    Flooring question

Epoxy/cabosil filler. With the system that I use, the entire rivet is encapsulated in epoxy.

    Flooring question

A forstner bit (diameter depending on the rivet flange) works great for this...start with a small pilot hole, do your recess and then open up the pilot for the rivet.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

yes, best to seal from the inside & outside. When the boat is upright, seal the external bow seam and internal side seams (port & starboard). When the boat is flipped/turtled, seal internal bow seam and external side seams (port & starboard).

    1973 Starcraft Holliday Bow question

What a heartbreaking backstory and I'm sure you'll honor your best friend's father. I kept the same wooden supports but added vertically-oriented wood to make it rigid.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

a little heat is key however be careful on the seams...the factory sealant has a relatively low melting point. I think you'll be fine with a heat gun as long as you don't hold it on the same spot for too long.

Appreciate the compliment SsM! Regarding the epoxy plugs, I let them cure up and then transfer holes. So a good strategy is go build a template...use the template (parchment paper is great for this; you can see the sharpie marks) for both making the oversized plug holes as well as coming...

Thank you for the kind words @Gearhear143 ! I had to do some hunting since my pics were kidnapped by photobucket. I needed a design that worked for both turtle & normal positions. I basically created double 2x4 beams that span port to starboard with larger casters from TSC. The gap in...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

correct; it's known to happen in marinas where you're dealing with stray currents in the water. This is where you get into the subjects of sacrificial anodes and galvanic isolators. If it's never been slipped, it may have occurred as a result of faulty wiring (i.e. using the hull as a ground...

Where do I belong? Alum Goods 1687, SS16 Clone?

I don't recall seeing external pitting on the side skin. I wonder if this was slipped with shore power for some time. I think your plan of attack sounds good...clean out the corrosion, treat the aluminum then skim with JBWELD or MarineTex. Anything deep may need more mechanical protection...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Any modern half ton pick-up is certainly capable of pulling 7000lb but you need to start watching the payload (typically < 1800lb); you've eaten about 50% of that payload just in tongue weight...add people, gear etc. and you start getting into 3/4T category. But you've already made multiple...

Thanks GaB! It was built with maintenance in mind… some car wash soap cuts through the river muck, pack bait spillage and carp slime with ease 👍. Ha, the admiral used an oven bag in a cake pan for the turkey this season…I wonder why 😂😂.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Trucklet 😂. On my phone I was thinking…”wow, Honda finally figured out how to make the ridgeline look cool!” 😂…then realized it wasn’t a RL. That’s a sweet rig…the Hyundai isn’t too shabby either! I hope the TFL guys get their hands on one to put it through the gauntlet!

You’re welcome BWR! Yeah man, I’ve been pretty lucky with this old egg beater. I didn’t have much hope when I first drug it home 8 years ago. I have the 12x24 round which is 8’ high.

I winterized the engine...including a flush with salt-away, cleaned out the limber holes & also rinsed the drainages with salt away...some of the holes were actually clogged with bits of foam & aluminum shavings...and even some chunks of old gluvit that I chipped off (from the P.O). plug check...

The 2nd 2021 Mod is converting the battery hatch to an anchor locker; the richter anchor destroys the plastic bins I was lugging it around in…plus, that’s a lot of wasted topside deck space. To enable this mod, I moved the battery holder(s) under the deck…and included a 2nd for a 24v system...
