Small engine replacement. LoveJoy shaft connector. How does it remove?

If you already twisted two wrenches, were they the wrong size? Inquiring minds would like to know. also you could drill the set screws if you have good drill bits. It’s not a perfect solution but it may work. If you are scrapping the motor, worst case, cut the motor shaft, then get a puller on...

Ever see a twisted drive shaft?

If you do just get the upper, take the bottom half to a rebuilder and have it gone through. The shavings are in there waiting to destroy the rest. Or simply buy a completely new drive and have fun without worrying about any more issues.

    Electrical issue, ticking sound

It would be best if the ducer is wired to a switch. Some can be damaged of run not in the water to much.

2002 Mastercraft 5.7 harmonic balancer moving in and out

Seen two break just forward of the main bearing over the years, one blew the pulley off, the other still ran but the pulley wobbled like crazy. Ugly stuff!

    Shifting very difficult

That seems a bit much play in-the cable. Ya know you may as replace that also. I believe the play should be no more than 1/8”.

    Shifting very difficult

Under load, it will act differently. Just the way it is. With the bent shoe and things spinning in the drive it's trying to do what it's supposed to but can't. Wen not under load it just jiggles itself into place. Poor explanation but hay it's hot today and stuff.

    Proper Castle Nut Installation

Interesting. never saw offset holes myself. Are you sure the bearing races are set all the way in? Looks like someone may have added an extra hole at some point to address the same issue.

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Well, fine tuning includes spark plugs. I’m not being anal about them but seen it enough times where performance issues were caused by the plugs, even tough they looked perfect.

    Newbie needs some help please!

peeling one rib tells me there is an alignment issue. Look at all the pulleys from the side and see if they are lined up with each other, it's easier to see with the belt on. You can take a straightedge and check them also.

Towing over rough terrain with outboard down?

Battery has to be strapped down per Abyc regulation. Regardless, I know in a small boat it’s not easy to do. How about one of those small hand held jump packs to trim up? Or a transom saver to keep it up a bit higher. Or trim up completely, and swing the trim lock down and just go….

Leave the battery in and raise the motor when you get to the driveway. Simple.
