    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

It's a new QJet, not a rebuilt or remanufactured one. New.

    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

Just checked that forum out, but didn't see anything about marine QJet! Vehicles, yes, but not marine.

    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

The mechanic who installed the Quadrajet is the same one that has worked on our boat (summerizing/winterizing) and other things, since we moved here in August 2019. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that much about Quadrajets. And, this marine service is the only one that will work on older boats...

    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

Any ideas of why the carburetor secondaries aren't kicking in? Elevation were at, malfunction in this new (not remanufactured) carburetor or something else, like too old of gas? BTW, the boat will be headed for storage in Boulder City, Nevada soon and will be put on Lake Mead.

    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

Have a 20ft 1992 Celebrity Cuddy Cabin w/5.7L I/O. Took it into marine service that has "winterized" and "summerized" (northern Colorado) it since Oct 2019. Boat was bought in Jacksonville, FL in 2009. While in Jacksonville, had the carburetor rebuilt and later, replaced (remanufactured one)...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Ok, here is the "bottom line", for now: Once, next May, when we get the boat "summerized" and whatever is checked, will let the thread/forum know what happens. That's it!

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

We bought a hose assembly, when we first arrived back here in Colorado, for getting the gas out of the boat tank, but the hose wouldn't go all the way into the tank (filler) from the back of the boat. I pushed the hose until it stopped, pulled it out and not a drop of gas was on it. Then we...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Where do you get the idea we "don't want to"? I simply can't do and wouldn't even try. And, if this marine mechanic tells us there isn't a problem with the carb, I have to believe him. He is the marine mechanic, I definitely am not. And, on top that, people have to believe their vehicle...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Ok. Or as old Bernie said in Weekend At Bernie's movie, "whatever". LOL

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

"Full tank of old gas" is not what we have! 1/2 of the tank of new gas was put in in Oct 2020. Yes, that gas has mixed with old gas, but, nothing we could do about that. And, not all boaters can use up a tank of gas in a summer. We sure wouldn't and haven't. Guess we'll see if a new prop will...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

I'm sure the marine mechanic that "summerizes" it, will know what to do if he can't get the engine started. I will, of which I already have, ask them again, about draining the tank. If they can't, and we can't find anywhere to have it done, it simply can't be done. The marine service we had the...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

First, we didn't move to the "high mountains", but it is almost 5,000 ft.. We have a marine dealer/repair that works on our boat, right here. It's the only place, locally, that will work on older boats. We've had it "winterized" and "summerized" by them, as well as a few other things done. We...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Sorry, not bored and don't need attention. My wife gives me all of the attention I need. LOL And, just because you are 74 and do your own repairs, that doesn't mean every 74 year old does. But, good try anyway.

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

But, question is..........would the boat even start if the gas was/is that bad? Because it's carbureted, if it sits to long on the trailer, it can be hard to start anyway. Once it's started, and let run to op temp and then shut off, it will start up immediately. By this time, the carb has gas in...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Actually, I was only asking if any member has seen anyone using an electric winch on a boat trailer. What's so bizarre about asking that? Just a question.

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Yes, I read what you said about the gas and other things. BUT, since we have no way to get rid of the gas in the tank, we have to use it up. As far as the other things go...........the engine starts and runs up to operating temp. Change the prop back to what it was summer of 2020, when we got it...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

One other thing here, forum members, have you known anyone who has an electric winch on their boat trailer? We do and it works very, very nicely. Just got to the point that neither of us had the strength to use the manual winch, so bought, and had installed, the electric one. Installed a...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Ok, I'm not that much of a "techy". Yes, I know about computers, but that knowledge is certainly limited. Many years ago, I got hired by a fencing company to be part of a "fence building crew". That job lasted a whole 3 hours, before I quit. I actually retired from Purchasing and Inventory...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Well, I'll just say this, I've only known one guy, my 1/2 brother, who still, even after retirement, works on his vehicles. He is 76. But, he hates computers and loves the grease/grim of working on an engine or anything else dealing with it. He use to work for the State of PA in Heavy Equipment...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Ok, what I have found out about the forum is, most-to-all members do their own mechanic work on their boat. I don't know how many 70 plus (Seniors) are on this forum that would still do mechanic work on their boat, but I would guess, not many, if any at all. Wife and I really appreciate all of...
