    Black cap trim.

I have the black cap trim pump on my 125 hp 1996 merc. Last fall I loosened relief valve to lower it. When I hit the pump this spring the plug came out sprayed some oil out. I’ve been trying to prime it and have had to raise and lower it by hand. Do I need to continue filling and raising and...

One more rookie question subbing an entire 4.3 setup for the 470 would require what engine support adapts? I’ve been getting some mixed answers, and boat is 19.5 and a heavy hull. I also have a line on a 165 Mercruiser. What about it for engine support adapts?

I also do have this 14 degree pod and this glass ply boat transom measures 14 degrees, and have a 125 hp merc outboard. And a 9.9 4 stroke Yamaha kicker. Or find a suitable Mercruiser complete unit for the glass ply and then carry on with the transom, floor rebuild I’m half way through on the...

This is it. Has the 470 in it. Does the 3 front new cross member fit inside the present engine berth or do I have to extend the berth opening forward?

Thanks I just noticed this is in the wrong category hopefully a mod changes it. I appreciate your answer but can you tell please tell me what’s involved changing the gear ratio. I’m leaning towards rebuilding the 170 but checking options. Thanks.

From Mercruiser 170. What's the simplest different mercruiser engine to drop in if there is one where the engine would bolt up to the 170 throughhull and drive? Or simplest total replacement with minimal stringer and engine mount add ons? Thanks.

    New project.

Well lazy after return from Mexico it was real hard to get motivated. Took a pic of today’s install basically a floor support that adds some transom support. New project.

Second layer of cloth on the transom finished. So it’s basically done. Wondering can I paint it with some of the 10 cans of tremclad paint I inherited. There is a set of doors that encloses the transom and had the batteries and fuel tank behind it. Starting Tuesday get the deck supports in so I...

    New project.

As mentioned rostering supports today got some left. They are plywood three sheets tabbed together, and I like to put a piece of plywood on the flat on top for holding the floor sheet screws better than trying to screw into the plywood sheets when they are side by side, screws don’t holid as...

New improved rear support for floor fabbed up its in pieces til I glass it together, along with the forward floor supports. Had to do some more grinding on the transom outer skin had to many high spots of previous glass and the new transom wasn’t as flush as I wanted. Got that done and tomorrow...
