    like said, never used cdi anything myself.... sooooooo its up to you.. i did find that pro marine shows it to be a #174-1778 reading tha stuff i see why they are grounding those two "colored" wires.. its to make that stator work on other motors..... one stator with different motor...

    i've got 4 merc parts list for that serial number and all 4 show same stator.. part # 398-832075A5 some sites will give a "range" of sorts but those include superceded numbers that all point to same part.................. ie: 832075A5 < 9710A30

    tex is not tha over temp.. its for a temp gauge.. tha over temp (tha one in tha plastic sleeve) terminates on a small term block with a tan that comes from a pin in tha harness. tha tan with tha bullet connector will plug into an exposed tan on tha MALE side of harness plug...

    sorry but that is not an '03.. its pre 2000. tha clamp/trim may be but not powerhead.. check for tha build date i mentioned.

    tha oiler stuff has no connection to tha over heat alarm other than sharing tha same buzzer.. tha ecu/acu has no connection to tha oil injection stuff either... you are doin' somethin' i've never tried.. i have not and don't know of anyone that went to pre-mix and left power (purple) and signal...

    you say tha oiler is not being used but module still has power? are all sensors still in place and still made up to tha module?.. do you still get tha "self test" beeps when key switch is rotated? oiler stuff and acu/ecu aren't connected in any way.........

    don't know 'bout you but i've run tha 9's and 16's without a reg. from early production 150 2.0s ta later stem winder 280/300+ 2.5's without seein' 16+ ona gauge (usually 'bout 14/14.5 at most).. or boilin' a battery?.. but thats jus my experience........................

    sounds like it may be what i'm referrin' to if you used a dial indicator on each cylinder ta establish TDC on each for a starting point for timing on that cylinder.. over tha years i've found out on tha V6 that idle timin' numbers recommended in manuals and such worked fairly well for a start...
